Week Four & Five of #AllDressApril 2017

All Dress April 2017 #AllDressApril

All Dress April 2017 #AllDressApril

This post has been delayed for too long. Unfortunately I got sick near the end of All Dress April, and it has been hard to recover. But I am starting to feel better and I want to make sure to finish up this series for the years. If you have missed the previous post and want to start from the beginning, you can begin with Week 1.

I found I missed a lot of days this last week and a half due to my illness, but I did the best that I could. There were also a couple of days I couldn’t get a picture of what I wore. I will make notes for what happened each day.

Day 22

Day 22 of All Dress April. Maxi dress from Torrid

This is the Tiered Jersey Maxi Dress in black from Torrid. This color is no longer available, but they still have some sizes in the heather gray color. I have it paired with a denim jacket from Mwah Jeans. The hair piece is from Earth Bound Trading Company.

Day 23

I was not able to participate this day.

Day 24

I believe I wore a dress this day, but forgot to take a picture.

Day 25

City Chic Fleetwood Maxi Dress for Day 25 of All Dress April

This is the Fleetwood Maxi Dress from City Chic. At this time it is not available on their website. (I highly suggest that if you want them to bring it back you send them an email request) It may or may not be brought back, sometimes they do bring back popular items. In the meantime if you want this dress, you might consider the Luxe Gunmetal Leopard Printed Maxi Dress. It is very similar. The only differences I see is the sleeve is slightly different and its in a print.

Day 26

Day 26 of #AllDressApril

This dress is from Rue21+. It is no longer available on their website and I don’t see anything similar to recommend. The shoes I have on are a pair of Isaac Mizrahi wedges that I picked up from a seller on eBay.

Day 27

Wrap dress for the curvy body

This is the Power Dress from Society Plus. They were so kind to send me this dress to share with all of you during All Dress April. Make sure you check out full review. They have also just released this dress in a light pink and burgundy color block pattern for summer.

Day 28

I actually did wear a dress this day, but I didn’t get a picture because everything was so hurried.

Day 29

Day 29 of All Dress April

I didn’t have anyone to take pictures for me at the con, and I had forgotten my tripod for my actual camera. So a bad mirror selfie from my cell phone was all I could manage in my presses for time day. This one didn’t even get posted to Instagram.

The dress, not that you can see that much of it, is from Tripp bought at Torrid last year. As I write this, they do have a few left at Hot Topic.

Day 30

I was not able to wear a dress this day.

Plus Size OOTD – The Dress For Every Body

Society Plus Skater Dress in Marsala

If you are always looking for that perfect dress that looks great on you, look no further than the skater dress. The skater dress is just one of those silhouettes that look good on every body shape and size. So it just comes down to finding a color and fabric selection that you like.

For sizing reference I typically wear a size 2X or 20W at most plus size stores like Lane Bryant and Torrid. My measurements are Bust:49″ Waist:42″ Hips:54″

Society Plus Skater Dress in Marsala

This particular one I am wearing is the Tinley Solid Skater Dress in Marsala from Society Plus. It comes in size 14/16 to 30/32. I am wearing a size 18/20. It is made in the popular scuba fabric, which is also a great fabric for everyone.

The Tinley Solid Skater Dress comes in three color option currently. There is the Marsala, like I am wearing, or there is also black and charcoal as options. But they have many other styles of skater dresses on the Society Plus website, many of which are in their Winter Clearance Event Sale.

Tinley Skater Dress from Society Plus paired with Sketchers

With it I have paired some Relaxed Fit Skechers. The exact ones I am wearing are not available any more, but there are several similar available if you look at the link provided.

I know I show quite a bit of Skechers shoes, and there is a reason for that. I am what I would say is in between a wide width and a medium width. I have a hard time finding shoes because of this, especially flats. I can get my foot in a lot of medium width shoes, but they are usually a little snug and will cause blisters if I push it, or at the very least just be really uncomfortable. I can also wear a lot of wide widths, but they are hard to find where I live. And not all do fit. Some are a touch too big which causes them to slip when I walk. And they cause blisters from rubbing. But Skechers, and a few other brands, just naturally run a little wider than the rest. They always fit me perfect without having to worry about finding a wide width. And a lot of their shoes have a comfort sole, which is a huge bonus.

Skater dresses look great on every body type.

Hidden Gems Of Amazon – CowCow Seamless Sleeveless Skater Dress

Plus size skater dress from CowCow with a unicorn print

Hidden Gems of Amazon

It is time for another Hidden Gems Of Amazon. If you missed the previous posts in this series this is where I buy low cost plus size items on Amazon from unknown brands. I try on the clothes for you guys and give you a full report on the sizing and quality.

This time I am trying on a sleeveless skater dress from CowCow. CowCow is not as unknown as the previous brands I have done, but I feel like it’s still unknown enough that it was safe to include it. I mean I still hear at least once a month someone tell me they never heard of Torrid, so I know there are tons of people who haven’t heard of CowCow.

I actually had been thinking about giving this brand a try for a little over a year now. I first heard about it in a plus size vintage inspired BST group on Facebook. Many of the women in that group, like me, really like cute and kitschy prints. I hesitated for a long time debating over their sizing. This is a brand that comes out of China I believe, so you know how sizing can be. But I had many conversations with people and it just added to my confusion. You see I was told everything from they run true to their sizing chart to you should size down two because of how stretchy the material is.

For reference here is their size chart:

CowCow Size Chart

What I ended up hearing the most was size down one compared to their size chart. I am usually a 2X or 18/20 at most plus size stores. My measurements are bust: 49″, waist: 42″, and hips: 54″. Since the size chart would put me closest in a 3X I decided to go with a 2XL. Also for those of you who do not fit in these sizes, they have recently added sizes 4X and 5X. However I could not find the size chart for those. But I think you can pretty easily estimate measurements based on the sizes above.

CowCow Golden Unicorn Skater Dress

This is the CowCow Golden Unicorn Sleeveless Skater Dress. However this is not the dress I ultimately am showing you picture of me in. See when I listened to other people about sizing, it didn’t fit. I should have just went by the size chart.

I did not take a picture of me in it, but it was very tight. I was able to put it on. But there was like a ring of fabric that formed around my waist, especially right above my butt. It was kind of like the roll effect you get when you wear spanx, except this was in the opposite direction . So I ended up selling it. I do think that sizing may be a bit depend on two things 1. your body shape 2. your personal preference on how form fitting your clothing can be.

I wanted to reorder this same dress in the next size up, but at the time I was placing my order they were out of this pattern (they have since restocked if anyone is interested and it runs anywhere from $17.99 to $19.99 depending on the size you pick). So I went with my next choice.

CowCow Black Unicorn Skater Dress

This is the CowCow Black Unicorn Sleeveless Skater Dress. It sells for anywhere between $18.99 and $20.99 depending on the size you order. This time I ordered a 3X and the results were much better for me.

Trying on the black unicorn skater dress from CowCow

I paired it with a simple charm necklace I bought from a vintage store and a pair of light pink satin heels from Mootsies Tootsies. They no longer make those shoes and I honestly could not find anything even close to this style.

Side view of the plus size CowCow skater dress

The fit is much better in this size 3X. I do still have a bit of the wrinkling of the fabric just above my butt. However I think its pretty minimum, and if I sized up I more it would be too loose for my tastes.

Back of the unicorn print skater dress from CowCow.

For those of you who haven’t heard about this brand, the material they use is unusual. And my understanding is they use the same material on everything they make. I have heard it described as swimsuit material. I don’t personally think that is accurate. It is definitely similar to that kind of material. To me it feels closer to some active wear I have owned. But if you decide to order something, just be prepared that it’s not your average item.

They have lots of patterns, from the more sedate to these fun kitschy prints. There is something for everyone’s taste.

They have more than just dresses as well. They also sell leggings, shirts, and socks. Not all categories are always available on Amazon though. There is a much bigger selection available as well as more customization available through the CowCow Website. There are definite plus and minuses to either way you order. The biggest being prices are cheaper ordering through Amazon, but there is less selection than on CowCow’s actual website.

Another cool thing about their website is if you happen to be an artist that always wanted to put one of your prints on clothing, you can do that and make money through CowCow. Take the time to check it out. And let us know in the comments below if you do have a print on CowCow that we should check out.

I want to hear from everyone. Let me know in the comments below if you have tried CowCow and what your favorite thing from them is.
