Hidden Gems Of Amazon – Daily Ritual Plus Size Jersey Short-Sleeve Scoop Neck T-Shirt Dress

Amazon Hidden Gems

Amazon Hidden Gems

Today we are looking at a Hidden Gem of Amazon. It’s been way too long since I have posted one of these, the last one I did was last fall looking at the Stripes and Floral Print 3/4 Length Sleeve Tee. But I found this dress recently and I thought it would make a great staple piece to anyone’s wardrobe. It can easily be worn during any season with the right pieces to add to it. We are looking at the Daily Ritual Plus Size Jersey Short-Sleeve Scoop Neck T-Shirt Dress.

I ordered this dress a little over a month ago, and it was still plenty warm here at the time. But then a week after I got it we had a massive drop in temperature. I kept holding off on doing this post thinking I would do it in the spring, but then I thought this is actually something that I would wear in every season. I just would wear it very different in each of the seasons. So I thought I would do something different this time. In addition to talking about the fit and quality of the dress I will also be sharing how I would wear it and link to some items that I would pair it with.

For sizing reference, I typically wear a size 20W or 2X at most plus size stores like Lane Bryant and Torrid. My measurements are Bust: 49″ Waist: 43″ Hips: 54″ And I wear a 40DDD bra.Daily Rituals Jersey Dress available on Amazon

Back of the Daily Rituals jersey dress

This dress sells for $18.00, and I am wearing it in a size 3X. It is available in sizes 1X to 7X. There are five color options, the color I have is called Cypress Green. I personally consider it to be olive-green or army green, whichever you want to call it. The other color options are black, navy, deep red and light heather grey.

The fabric is a jersey t-shirt fabric, but not the super thing kind. It is thick enough you are not going to see through it. The weight is wearable on its own anytime from late spring to early fall. And between the fabric thickness and the seeming, it does feel like a nice quality. The fit is perfect, and I thought the size chart was accurate.

This is an Amazon owned brand, so if anything is wrong it should be easily returnable. And of course it is available with free prime shipping. This particular Amazon clothing brand focuses on simple and chic basics. Things that are staples in most wardrobes in classic colors.

So I wanted to give you some ideas on how I would style this dress for each season. I am going to go one season at a time. And I tried to stay as much as possible to items you can buy on Amazon, but that wasn’t possible for everything.

Let’s start with summer because I feel that is this is the time of year most people would be interested in this dress, and I would go mostly simple with the accessories for it.

Fergalicious Women's Zaille Gladiator Sandal available on Amazon

This would look fantastic paired with some tan gladiator sandals like these Fergalicious Women’s Zaille Gladiator Sandal.

Kate Spade New York Women's Gold Standard Pendant Necklace

For accessories I think this dress is calling for some gold tone jewelry. I would go with a long chain pendant necklace like this Kate Spade New York Women’s Gold Standard Pendant Necklace.

Kate Spade New York Women's Gold Standard Statement Studs

And I would add some matching earrings for good measure. In the case of what I have shared it would be these Kate Spade New York Women’s Gold Standard Statement Studs.

Moving into the fall I can see introducing some richer tones to warm your look up. The temperature can vary a lot in the fall depending on how early or late it is in the season, and of course where you live. So while I am not linking them here, I would also suggest you could easily add some tights to this look to add some more warmth.

J. Adams Jones Combat Bootie

My fall shoe of choice to pair with dress is this J. Adams Jones Combat Bootie. I actually own these boots, you may recently seen them in my Instagram feed. They are perfect for fall.

Simply Be Suedette Biker Jacket

Don’t forget your jacket in the fall. This Suedette Biker Jacket from Simply Be will no doubt look stunning with this dress, and quite a few other outfits for that matter.

Ted and Jack - Fall Foliage Pattern Silk Feel Scarf

If you are always chilly or just the type that never feels an outfit is complete without accessories, then you may want to add a scarf to your fall look. I really like this Ted and Jack Fall Foliage Pattern Silk Feel Scarf for this particular look.

Now if you are like me, in the winter I am always freezing. There is nothing I can do to get warm enough, and I like to get cozy warm clothing as much as possible. So I wanted to share a way to really make this the most warm and toasty as possible.

Torrid Faux Leather Leggings

To make this dress wearable in the winter I would start by adding some leggings. I really like the idea of these Torrid Faux Leather Leggings for a winter look with this dress.

G by GUESS Womens Allio Boot

My shoe of choice for this winter look would be these G by GUESS Allio Boots. The look so cozy.

Simply Be Fur Gilet

To keep you extra warm and toasty I would try this Fur Gilet from Simply Be. I’m pretty sure this is just an open front vest.

La Carrie Faux Fur Headband with Stretch Women’s Winter Earwarmer

And finally I would top off my winter look with this La Carrie Faux Fur Headband with Stretch. I don’t do well with a lot of hats, but I love this sort of headband for the winter and it really does keep you warm.

And finally when it warms back up for spring, I think a fun monotone look would be a lot of fun.

SeaVees Women's Monterey Sneaker Varsity

For spring, the shoes I think would be perfect are these SeaVees Women’s Monterey Varsity Sneaker in Burnt Olive. The color is almost a perfect match.

Indo Batik headband

For my hair, this Indo Batik headband from Silly Yogi seems perfect.

Plus Size Oversized Sweaters Duster

And finally, to finish this look off, and to keep the spring chill away, I would add this Oversized Sweaters Duster.

So tell me in the comments what you think. Do you like my outfit suggestions? How would you wear this dress?

Plus Size OOTD – The Dress For Every Body

Society Plus Skater Dress in Marsala

If you are always looking for that perfect dress that looks great on you, look no further than the skater dress. The skater dress is just one of those silhouettes that look good on every body shape and size. So it just comes down to finding a color and fabric selection that you like.

For sizing reference I typically wear a size 2X or 20W at most plus size stores like Lane Bryant and Torrid. My measurements are Bust:49″ Waist:42″ Hips:54″

Society Plus Skater Dress in Marsala

This particular one I am wearing is the Tinley Solid Skater Dress in Marsala from Society Plus. It comes in size 14/16 to 30/32. I am wearing a size 18/20. It is made in the popular scuba fabric, which is also a great fabric for everyone.

Plus size skater dress from Society Plus

The Tinley Solid Skater Dress comes in three color option currently. There is the Marsala, like I am wearing, or there is also black and charcoal as options. But they have many other styles of skater dresses on the Society Plus website, many of which are in their Winter Clearance Event Sale.

Tinley Skater Dress from Society Plus paired with Sketchers

With it I have paired some Relaxed Fit Skechers. The exact ones I am wearing are not available any more, but there are several similar available if you look at the link provided.

I know I show quite a bit of Skechers shoes, and there is a reason for that. I am what I would say is in between a wide width and a medium width. I have a hard time finding shoes because of this, especially flats. I can get my foot in a lot of medium width shoes, but they are usually a little snug and will cause blisters if I push it, or at the very least just be really uncomfortable. I can also wear a lot of wide widths, but they are hard to find where I live. And not all do fit. Some are a touch too big which causes them to slip when I walk. And they cause blisters from rubbing. But Skechers, and a few other brands, just naturally run a little wider than the rest. They always fit me perfect without having to worry about finding a wide width. And a lot of their shoes have a comfort sole, which is a huge bonus.

Skater dresses look great on every body type.

Hidden Gems Of Amazon – ESPRLIA Women’s Clothing

Hidden Gems of Amazon

Hidden Gems of Amazon

Time for another Hidden Gems Of Amazon. This time I am focusing on a brand instead of one single item. Lets take a look at ESPRLIA. If you caught my Valentine’s Day Look Book a couple of weeks ago, then you saw this dress.

ESPRLIA Plus Size Lace Dress

This is the ESPRLIA Womens Plus Size Retro Glam Lace Dress. It is currently on sale for $25.99 with free PRIME shipping. It is available in three color combos. I am wearing the black lace with purple lining option here.

The fit is great and the material feels nice. The belt is loose (no belt loops) so you can adjust it and tie it how it suits you, or not wear it at all. As I mentioned on the Valentine’s day post, the size chart they have posted in their photos is accurate. It is available in sizes 1X to 5X. I have on a 3X, I would typically order a 2X or 20W at most plus size stores like Lane Bryant or Torrid. My measurements are Bust:49″ Waist:42″ Hips:54″.

Plus Size Lace Retro Glam Dress from ESPRLIA

This particular dress had been sent to me from the seller, for review purposes. However, I want to share with you a second dress I have from them that I bought myself.

ESPRLIA Women's Plus Size Lace stitching Wrap V Neck Evening & Cocktail Party Dress

This is the ESPRLIA Women’s Plus Size V Neck Evening and Cocktail Party Dress. It is currently selling for $9.99 with free Prime Shipping. Available in three color options. I have on the Wine Red color.

Back view of ESPRILIA Plus Size Dress

As you can see this is a much more bodycon type of dress. It is also available in sizes 1X to 5X. I ordered the same 3X size as I did with the other dress. I do feel like it fit well, however you must be very body confident to wear this dress.

I do not wear shapewear often. This is actually the first piece of clothing I blogged about that I am wearing shapewear with. The top portion of the dress is quite thick. The bottom portion is very thin. Even with the shapewear you can still see every imperfection of my body. Now my husband absolutely went crazy for this. He thought it looked great on me. I think it looks okay, but it is on the verge of being outside my comfort zone, and I feel like I am pretty body confident.

I also feel like this might be one of those cases where it might be better suited to a different body type than mine. I have a B body rather than the smooth O that a lot of plus size girls have. So I have lumps and rolls in addition to my curves from being an hourglass.

But this brand has lots of other dresses to choose from. I am sure that I will be purchasing other dresses from them in the future. If you would like to see what else they have to offer, you can check out the ESPRLIA Store Front on Amazon.

Tell me in the comments below if you have tried anything from this brand, and what did you think?

Plus Size OOTD – Jumpsuit 70’s Style

Simply Be Jumpsuit paired with a Worthington Plus Blouse

Simply Be Plus Size Pinafore Jumpsuit

I really love a good jumpsuit. But it is really hard for me to find one that fits me. Most I have tried in recent years (especially from US brands) seem to be only made for women with short torsos. I am always trying to find one with a good fit, so when this one came in and actually fit me comfortably I was ecstatic. This is the Simply Be Wide Leg Pinafore Jumpsuit. It comes in sizes 8 to 22, but they seem to be out of size 22 at the moment. I am wearing a size 20, which is what I typically wear at most traditionally sized plus size brands like Lane Bryant and Torrid. For reference my measurements are Bust:49″ Waist:42″ Hips: 54″. I did have about an 1.5″ of fabric hemmed from the legs.

70's style plus size jumpsuit

I really love the little touches that hint at the seventies, like the pinafore top, the wide flare legs. Even the material feels like the seventies. In addition to those kinds of touches, one of the things I think a lot of people will love is…it has pockets. And I know how much a lot of you ladies love pockets.

Simply Be Jumpsuit paired with a Worthington Plus Blouse

I have it paired with the Worthington Short-Sleeve Tie-Neck Blouse with Pleated Sleeve. They are sold at JC Penny and come in size 0X to 3X. I have on a 2X, and I think it fits true to size. It is no longer available in this red color, but they still have it in a pink. But if you are looking for something in red I think the Worthington Accordian Sleeve V-Neck Bow Blouse would look equally as striking.

Side view of the Simply Be Jumpsuit paired with GAP Platform heels

My shoes are platform heels from GAP. They are no longer available. I think just about any black heels will look good with this outfit. I personally like the wood heel look just because it is another nod to the 70s.

Tell me in the comments below if you would rock a jumpsuit.

2016 Gift Guide For The Girls and Guys On Your List

Christmas gift guide

Christmas gift guide

I know I have been doing a lot of reviews of products I thought would make good gifts, and those posts will probably continue on into December. But I wanted to actually put together a gift guide. This will include some things I have reviewed and a lot of things I have not. I will be including some things that make great stocking stuffers as well as gifts. And almost everything on this list will be budget friendly. I thought this was important because I see so many people make these fantastic gift guides, and even though my husband and I certainly aren’t poor I am left thinking who has the money to give these items as gifts. Nothing in my list should be over $50, and most of them are significantly less than that.

I really wanted to do this post because I love to give gifts. It is my primary love language, if you are familiar with The Five Love Languages. I think people sometimes misunderstand this love language and think its about materialism, but its really about symbolism. Its not about the money spent, its showing that you took the time to get to know someone enough to know what they like. Its showing someone you really know who they are, and you care enough to pay attention. And since gift giving, and receiving is so important to me, I wanted to take the time to share some items that might make good gifts. Some items are even items I have already bought for people on my list. If it is a child or someone I know for sure doesn’t check my blog I will share those items. So lets get started.

And don’t forget the Kindle Unlimited.

So in the comments below let me know who is on your list, and would you buy one of my suggestions for them? Just remember when you are out buying your gift, its not about how much you spend its how much thought goes into the gift that really matters. So don’t put pressure on yourselves to spend so much. Keep things simple and from the heart.

Transitioning Your Wardrobe From Summer To Fall

Society Plus Flash Sale on Cardigans. One day only for 10-6-16

You spend a lot of money on your wardrobe. Or maybe you’re struggling just to buy one or two new pieces of clothing a year. No matter what your budget, finding a way to make your clothing wearable for a longer period of time is something we all want. If you saw my latest Inside The Dressing Room post a few weeks ago, you have already seen the inspiration and basics of this piece. But I still wanted to share this look fully styled.

First lets talk about the dress that we are transitioning into a fall look.

Lace Sundress from Torrid

This is Torrid’s Floral Lace Sundress. Chance’s are some of you may already have this dress or one similar. Or if you are interested in it they still have limited sizes available. You can actually purchase it both on Torrid’s Website or on Amazon.

This is pretty much how I wore it this summer. By itself, just paired with some shoes like these LifeStride Women’s Persephone Wedge Sandal that I am wearing. Sorry you can’t see them super well, my camera got moved a bit while I was taking the pictures.

To transition this dress into fall we just need to add some things.

Plus Size Sundress and Cardigan paired with booties

I paired with it the Plus Size Open Front Cardigan in Cocoa that I picked up in Forever 21. I also changed from the shoes to boots. These are the Avenue’s Rina Wide Buckle Bootie in Tan. You can purchase them on the Avenue’s Website or on Avenue Women’s Rina Wide Buckle Bootie. (Just a note for anyone looking to save some money. I personally bought my boots on Amazon. I was buying the boots only. The actual price is a couple of dollars more on Amazon, but shipping is free. On the Avenue’s website you have to spend $150 to get free shipping, so when I added it up it was cheaper to buy on Amazon.)

Now to add the finishing touch.

Transitioning a Torrid sundress to fall with a pair of boots, a sweater, and a purse

I added one of my favorite Jessica Simpson Bags to finish the look. The bag I have is from a couple of years ago, so I don’t think it’s still available. However I think the Jessica Simpson Neilson Fringe Trim Hobo Bag would be equally amazing with this look.

Thanks to the colors in this dress it could be changed up in many ways, not just for fall, but spring as well. You could easily change the cardigan to a bright coral and a put on a pair of closed toed pumps to be spring ready.

I would love to see how some of you have transitioned your outfits for fall. You can post them in the comments here or tag me on social media. If you tag me on Instagram I may even repost some of your beautiful pictures.

A Review Of The Sheet Masks I Tried For Beauteque’s Relaunch As Your Mask Marketplace

As you probably know, last month was Beauteque‘s relaunch as Beteaque: Your Mask Marketplace.

Beauteque: Your Mask Market Place

And at the beginning of last month I posted about the relaunch and the masks I was sent for review. All the masks I was sent I had never tried before. To refresh your memory here are the mask I was sent.

Collection of Sheet Masks Available at Beauteque

In the photo left to right is the Tosowoong Aqua Tok Tok CO2 Fresh Mask,
Holika Holika Pig-Collagen Jelly Gel Mask Sheet, ThFace Shop Intense
MasCream Sheet - Firming, Esfolio Essence Mask Sheet - Banana, Etude House
Wonder Pore Black Mask Sheet, Tsaio Stayed Up Late Mask - Emily, and Mizon
Ampoule Essential Sheet Mask Peptide.

Lets take these one at a time.

Tosowoong Aqua Tok Tok CO2 Fresh Mask

1. Tosowoong Aqua Tok Tok CO2 Fresh Mask :

What it does – This nourishing and hydrating face mask contains Glacial milk, Bee propolis and Niacinamide to help moisturize the skin and diminish the appearance of fine lines!

How you use it – Massage CO2 Aqua Gel into the skin for 1 to 2 minutes. Apply CO2 mask sheet to face, leaving it in place for 10 to 20. Rinse off excess with lukewarm water.

My thoughts – This mask was the most unique out of the ones I have tried. It came in two parts. The first part is the CO2 Aqua Gel and the second is the sheet mask. However the mask sheet is completely dry. You put the aqua gel on your face first then apply the sheet mask over it. Once the two are combined on your skin it activates. I didn’t really find the sensation pleasant with this one, however I did see nice results with my skin. On first try I would give this a rating of a 6 out of a 10. I would like to give this one another try in the near future and reevaluate then.

Holika Holika Pig-Collagen Jelly Gel Mask Sheet

2. Holika Holika Pig-Collagen Jelly Gel Mask Sheet:

What it does – Rich in nutritious elements, this pig collagen gel mask and is made with 10,000 ppm collagen from pig skin. Why pig collagen you ask? Pig collagen, much like human collagen, helps to keep your skin hydrated and enhance it’s elasticity. Diminish fine lines, increase your skin’s luminosity, and get supple, baby soft skin with this mask!

How you use it – On a cleansed and toned face, spread the gel mask over your face. Leave on for 20-30 minutes. Gently pat in the remaining product for full absorption.

My thoughts – I think this was one of my two favorites out of the group. It was a gel mask which I love because they have a very cooling a soothing feeling by nature. It was deeply hydrating, but without clogging my pores. And my skin did feel softer after use. I would rate this one a 9 out of a 10.

*Note – This mask is not currently listed on Beauteque’s website. I do not know if it is coming back or not. You can contact their customer support to find out if you are interested.

ThFace Shop Intense

3. The Face Shop Intense MasCream Sheet – Firming:

What it does – This Intensely firming mask sheet with anti-aging cream essence has the effect of an entire jar of cream The dense microfiber sheet adheres closely to the skin, providing soothing comfort. It is formulated with marine collagen and black truffle to leave skin looking supple and improve elasticity.

How you use it – Unfold the mask an carefully place it on your freshly cleansed face. Avoid the eye and mouth contours. Remove after 10-20 minutes and gently dab remaining essence into skin.

My thoughts – I was curious to try this, but a little hesitant at the same time. While I am not prone to having a lot of acne I have had some breakouts when using heavy cream based sheet masks. This did not cause a breakout, so that was a plus. It left my skin feeling very firm, and it seemed like I felt the result for several days after. The only drawback was the scent. It had a fragrance, and you know for me that is a big no no. It did not cause a reaction, but I found it unpleasant. It reminded me of a moisturizer I had tried in the past from the Face Shop. This may just not be the brand for me. However if you do not have fragrance issues you definitely should give this a try. I would rate this a 7 out of 10, and if it were not for the fragrance it would have gotten a 9.

Esfolio Essence Mask Sheet - Banana

4. Esfolio Essence Mask Sheet – Banana:

What it does – This highly concentrated essence mask sheet is formulated with fresh banana extract to help soothe and soften your skin! The fiber and vitamins contained in bananas will help moisturize and brighten the look of your complexion by removing dead skin cells.

How you use it – Apply to face after cleansing and toning the skin. Make sure the mask fits your eyes, nose and lips. Take off the mask after 15 to 20 minutes and dab remainig essence into skin.

My thoughts – Esfolio has consistently been one of my favorite brands because of how well their masks perform. This was not a disappointment. I don’t know that I thought it was super soothing, but it definitely was cleansing and brightening. My one disappointment with this mask was not a fault of the mask so much as I just made and assumption beforehand that maybe I shouldn’t have. Since it was banana I was expecting a banana fruit scent, and it was instead a banana leaf smell. It wasn’t a bad scent, just not what was expected. Any way I would rate this one 8 out of 10.

Etude House Wonder Pore Black Mask Sheet5. Etude House Wonder Pore Black Mask Sheet:

What it does – This mask controls sebum and cleans pores with its black sheet containing oak tree charcoal cooked in a kiln with temperature over 1,000 degrees.

How you use it – Place mask sheet so that it fits contours of the face. Remove mask after 10-15 minutes later and lightly pat to absorb remaining contents.

My thoughts – This is my other favorite new mask. It is a black mask, which usually means there is charcoal involved somehow, and there is with this one. Regardless if you have issues with acne or not, everyone needs to do something to help clean their pores out from time to time. I was especially in need when I tried this mask. While I don’t break out often when I do I get the really painful type. I had a really bad break out after helping a friend clean, and I just knew my pores were clogged. This has to be the best sheet mask I have ever tried for pores. Its reputation is well deserved. It actually cleared up a couple of small pimples over night and my skin felt super clean. I would rate this 9 out of 10.

Tsaio Stayed Up Late Mask - Emily

6. Tsaio Stayed Up Late Mask – Emily:

What it does – Have a late night? Lack of sleep can cause you to not only feel tired but look tired as well. This black mask will help you fake a good nights sleep in just 5 minutes! It can make you and your skin look well rested by helping to brighten and firm your skin with a concentrated beauty essence. Suitable for normal, oily or combination skin.

How you use it – Cleanse and tone skin. Remove from package and fit to face. Can be worn for just 5 minutes if pressed for time, or longer.

My thoughts – This was the only one out of the group that I really just didn’t like. I don’t think there was anything wrong with it, I just don’t think it was for my skin. I didn’t see the type of results I would want. I think it would probably be better for someone with less mature skin. I would rate this one a 3 out of 10.

Mizon Ampoule Essential Sheet Mask Peptide

7. Mizon Ampoule Essential Sheet Mask Peptide:

What it does – Smooth out wrinkles with Mizon Ampoule Essential Sheet Mask Peptide. Powerful peptides in this face mask work to firm and lift your face. Use weekly for a major boost to your skincare regimen. Ideal for all skin types.

How you use it – Simply lay mask on cleansed and towel-dried face, leaving on for 20-30 minutes before removing and patting in excess serum with fingertips.

My thoughts – I thought this did a great job, but yet again it had a scent I didn’t care for. Because of the nature of this mask though you would really need to use it on a more regular basis to see real results. I would give it a second chance. I would rate this one a 5 out of 10.

So those are the new masks that  I was sent to review. And while these were sent to me for free all the opinions stated were my own. I want to always strive to be honest in all of my reviews. I would love to hear what you guys think. Have you tried any of these before? Let me know what you think of the ones you have tried before and what your skin type is. If you have any recommendation on what I should try I would love to hear that too.

And as always if you guys would like to purchase any of these masks or anything else from Beauteque, you can receive 10% off your entire order with coupon code KAREN. That can even be used on subscription services and sale items. The code does not expire as long as I am affiliated with them and you can use it multiple times.

Inside The Dressing Room – Cato Fashions Summer 2016

Inside thedressing room with My Plus Size Life

Inside thedressing room with My Plus Size Life

Time for another visit with me inside the dressing room. I previously visited Lovesick and Forever 21. This time you will be going with me to Cato Fashions.

I realize there may be some people out there who are not familiar with Catos, but they are growing and I was really happy to learn recently that they now have a website. So now I can finally share their items with all of you.

A little history of my experience with them. I grew up in a very rural area of Kentucky, a town so small that most of you probably would not be able to comprehend how small it is. This town literally to this day still only has one stop sign and a post office. Over the years its occasionally had a gas station/convenience store, but they never last long. So this meant that we had to travel to the next town of size to shop for clothing and other items (approximately a 25 mile trip one way). I have almost always been plus size, and so even in the largest towns in Kentucky shopping was limited for me. However the town we went to shop most often was not the largest. This meant that I had three choices to choose from. Up until I was about 12 the three choices were a place called Hills, JC Penny, and Cato. Hills was like a Wal-Mart but with less selection (After I was 12, Hills closed and Wal-Mart took its place). JC Penny at that time rarely offered anything but grandmother styles in plus sizes. And then there was Cato. It was the one saving grace. They sell both misses and plus sizes, but often items are offered on both sides. They usually offer trendy pieces. And best of all they are usually quite affordable compared to other plus size retailers. All of those things still hold true to this day.

So without further ado, I am very excited to share these with you guys. I hope it helps some of you on a budget find a new place to shop. As always I will remind you I typically wear 2X or 20 at both Torrid and Lane Bryant. And I wear a 40DDD bra. I can tell you everything I tried on at Cato was either a 2X or 20W. They do run true to size and always have.

Available in 14/16 to 26/28. Was $15.99 now $11.99.

This is where my luck run out a bit with what I tried on. The top did fit and it was comfortable, but I did not like the way that it looked on my body shape. I think it would look better on someone who is either and apple shape or inverted triangle. And this pair of shorts were a little more snug than the others. Just not a comfortable fit for me.

Shorts: Patchwork Print Soft Shorts-Plus

Available in 14/16 to 26/28. Was $15.99 now $9.99.

I had the same issue with these shorts. Just not a good fit for me. I was a little disappointed because I loved the print.

Plus Size Dress from Cato Fashions

Dress: Perforated Abstract Stripe Maxi Dress-Plus

Available in 14/16 to 26/28. $39.99

This dress fit well, but it was very warm fabric. If I lived somewhere that is cooler in the summer, I would have totally bought this. But not for temperatures over 75 degrees.

Skirt: Mixed Chevron Stretch Mesh Maxi Skirt-Plus

I loved this skirt. Probably going to save it more for fall. The top I was not crazy about, the length just wasn’t right for me.

Denim shorts from Cato Fashions

Top: Lace Up Side Layered Tank-Plus

Available in 14/16 to 26/28. $21.99

Shorts: Embellished Pocket Jean Shorts-Plusg

Available in size 16W to 26W. Was $21.99 now $15.99.

There were elements of this I loved. The top had some really cool details that you can see way better if you visit the link, but I just didn’t think it looked right on my body. And the shorts not a good fit, but were really cute. Being the shape I am its hard to find denim shorts that don’t leave a huge gap at the waist in the back. That not cute, but that big booty girl problems. What are you going to do?

This has been another look in the dressing room with me. Cato Fashions are located in 32 states. If you want to go try some on for yourself you can check their Store Locator to find the closest store to you.

I want to see what you have tried on at Cato Fashions and other stores I visit, just tag your pictures on social media with the hashtag #ITDRwithMyPlusSizeLife . Let me know in the comments where you want me to go next, and if I can I will.

Don’t Live In Fear, Live With Pride

Live In Pride

Live In Pride

I have spoken here on the blog before about how important it is to me to be a straight ally to the LGBTQ community, and how I feel we can’t have equality for any group if we don’t have equality for everyone. Because I have the personal platform and ability to blog and to talk to many people across the US I felt it was important to make this post right now.

Unless you live under a rock you have already heard about the very unfortunate event that happened in Orlando, FL. If by some miracle you have not, you can read the original news release here and the more updated press release from the President here.

Essentially as time went by through the day the body count and the number of injured went up, as well as information about who the shooter was came out. There have been reports that the man was involved with ISIS, and there have been words like terrorism tosses around. However his father has released a statement that implies that jealousy may have been the cause instead, and that the family has no knowledge of his intent or actions. You can read about that and watch the news clip here.

But something else happened later in the day that hasn’t gotten the same amount of press, mainly because it was prevented from happening. A young white male was heavily armed  with weapons and the items capable of creating explosives. He was stopped in Santa Monica, CA and arrested. He stated that he had been on his way to the LA Gay Pride Festival. There really has  not been much of a statement made on the incident, only that this is not related to the Orlando event as far as authorities can tell. But if you would like to read it for yourself you can find it here.

I wanted to share pictures of both of these young men, not to burn their faces in your memory, but to make a point that is very important. Yes, there has been mention of potential involvement of ISIS in the Orlando case, but that has yet to be proven. And even if it is true I think we should be careful about how we use the word terrorism in this case. That word, especially when used in conjunction with a group like ISIS holds a certain type of meaning. But this was not everyone being targeted in the US, this was a specific group, and this was motivated by hate. It is a hate crime. And so when you look at the man who had aimed to go to LA, with the kind of weapons he had on him, had he not been stopped he easily could have done as much or more damage as what happened in Orlando. So look at these two faces and know that hate does not come in one color. Please don’t make what happened in Orlando about the color of someone’s skin, the country their family was from, their families religion. Let it stay what it was really about, HATE! And now lets heal that.

And the other reason I really wanted to do this post tonight is to ask people to please don’t let yourself live in fear. Whether you are a member of the LGBTQ community or a straight ally, don’t stay home because you’re afraid of what might happen. I know there have been some reports of other threats for various Pride events around the country, and I know if you tend to be the type that worries or is anxiety ridden it can become fear inducing. You can not live a life based on things that might happen.

Yes it can be scary at times to stand up and oppose bullies (and yes I do consider someone who threatens other people even with this severe of consequences a bully) when they have threatened you. I have made a habit in my life of standing up to bullies, and it has been hard at times. I have even had people ask me why I do and say some of the things I do or comment on how they just couldn’t do what I did because they would be too terrified of the retaliation. But I have through my life maintained that if I believe in something I stand strong in my beliefs and I don’t back down based on fear of what might happen.

So my biggest wish is for all of you to not live in fear, but instead live with pride. Please support your local LGBTQ community in whatever way you can. Either in showing support to individuals you know personally or even better going and helping out at some of the Pride events.

Getting Catty With Torrid – An OOTD And Mini Review

Outfit from Torrid

I don’t often do button up blouses, but when I saw this Cat Print Chiffon Ruffle Top from Torrid I had to have it (because you know, crazy cat lady).

With it I am wearing the Noir Collection All-Nighter Pant – Slim Fix Pixie, also from Torrid. And my shoes are Rumblers – Sci Fi Wedge Sandles from Skechers.

I made sure to snap a picture up close of the fabric so you can see what the print looks like.

Close up of the Cat Print Top From Torrid.

You can see that what from a distance just loos like polka dots is actually little cat faces with whiskers.

Torrid Plus Size Outfit Of The Day

And of course the cats had to get in the pictures too.

My thoughts on the top are overall really good. I was pleasantly surprised that despite my DDD chest I did not have any gaping between the buttons. The print was really cute. I love the color. The fit outside of the chest was great. I got stopped a lot and complimented on it. The one and only complaint I had was that it is so shear I had no choice but to wear a cami with it. I don’t mind shear with certain things and certain types of shirts. But since this felt like a slightly more business type top (even though it had a cute print), it just felt like it should have been more opaque.

Has anyone else tried this top? What were your thoughts?
