What You Need To Know About Amazon Prime Wardrobe – A Review Of My First Plus Size Order

Amazon Prime Wardrobe

Amazon Prime Wardrobe

I have been talking about Amazon Prime Wardrobe here on the blog since the news first came out this past fall. I knew this could mean something big for plus sizes, especially for those of you who live in areas where plus size clothing is just not that accessible. I know from personal experience that if you have a limited budget for clothing, it can cause a lot of anxiety when you want to try a new brand but have no way to try it on before buying.

So I wanted to make sure I shared my first experience with Amazon Prime Wardrobe so you can see exactly how it works and what I thought of the options available. So this will be part review and part explanation. I will also be sharing more in the future, but most likely those will just be strictly about the clothing and not as much about how it works.

How Prime Wardrobe Works

Prime Wardrobe works pretty simply, but you must have a credit card on file with Amazon to place an order. Unfortunately a debit card or prepaid debit card will not work, it must be an actual bank issued credit card.

First you can either search directly through Prime Wardrobe available items, or you can just look for the Prime Wardrobe badge on items as you shop. You need to add at least three items to your cart that are Prime Wardrobe eligible. And I believe eight items are the limit. There is actually a separate cart that your Prime Wardrobe items go into. So don’t be surprised when they don’t show up in the regular area that you check out in.

Once you have selected your items and checked out, they will be shipped to you. Some items may be shipped separately, but your try on period does not begin until you have all items in your possession. The try on period is seven days. Just be careful not to remove any of the tags. And this is just for try on. They are not meant to be worn.

During the seven day try on period you can decide what you want to keep and what you do not. Though you can absolutely send things back before the seven days is up. Once you decide what you want to keep, you wrap everything back up and put it in the easy seal reusable box it was sent in. Put the provided return label on the box. And then simply drop the box off at your local UPS or UPS Store.

What I Ordered

I want to share here what I ordered to try on. In this section I am sharing the pictures from Amazon, and I will share my own pictures a little later.

How Your Package Arrives

Your Prime Wardrobe order doesn’t come in the typical Amazon box or bubble mailer. All items come in a box like this:

Amazon Prime Wardrobe Boxes

Now you want to make sure you open these the way Amazon intended because you will be reusing these boxes and if you don’t open them the right way it could ruin it. There is actually a pull tab that you rip on one side. Then when you open it up you see there is a second sealable closure so the box can be reused for shipping items back.

Inside the box, here is how it is packed:

Packing materials inside the Amazon Prime Wardrobe box

You get the little booklet telling you what to do with the items and how to return anything. And inside is also return labels, so make sure you don’t toss this in the trash. And as you can see there is also plenty of the air packs included to keep items from shifting around too much during the shipping process.

You see that I received two boxes. My order was shipped in two parts. Now I don’t really have a problem with them shipping these items separately, but I do have a problem with what was shipped in the second box. In the second box was my necklace. That is all, just the necklace. The reason I have a problem with that is these are big boxes, and not just big but thicker than the average Amazon box. I really dislike being wasteful like this.

Trying Everything On

I have pictures of everything except for the Jessica Simpson dress, in this case I was sent the wrong item and in the wrong size. Most items I have pictures of it on me, but there is one pair of shoes I did not put on for pictures. If you have been following my All Dress April posts, then you may have already seen some of these pictures.

Amazon Prime Wardrobe Plus size dress

Here I have on the Tiana B dress paired with the Naturalizer Sandals. And here is a closer look at the Sandals:

Naturalizer Sandals from Prime Wardrobe

I did not keep either of these items. The shoes, while extremely comfortable were just a little too loose on me. I ordered them in 9W, and I think I would have needed a medium width in these. If they are still available when I get my next box I may try them in the medium width. The dress fit comfortably, but I felt it just wasn’t the best look for me. If it had been cut a little different I probably would have kept this.

Plus size dress and necklace available through Amazon Prime Wardrobe

Here I am wearing the Lark & Ro dress with the Panacea Necklace. And here is a closer look at the pendant on the necklace:

Panacea pendant necklace available in Amazon Prime Wardrobe

Again, the pictures are just not doing this justice. It is an unbelievably beautiful necklace. And I did end up buying the necklace. The dress I thought looked great on, but the fit just was not good for me. It wasn’t tight or anything, but because of the cut combined with the type of fabric used it didn’t work well with a larger bust. So if I raised my arm the whole dress raised up way too high. I think this would be perfect for someone with a smaller bust than me.

Bella Vita shoes available on Amazon Prime Wardrobe

This is one of the two items I did not take pictures of on me. That is because even though I ordered a 9W, as I did with the other pair, it was extremely tight. The other item was the third dress ordered, but as I said earlier, they sent the wrong dress and wrong size.

Sending Things Back

The process of sending things back is really quite easy and does not cost you anything. You just pack everything back in the box provided. And if you got your items in multiple shipments you can totally put all of your items in one box, assuming they fit. You seal it up using the easy seal strip, simply peel off strip the plastic strip and then press the box lid down. Affix the label, and it is ready to go. You just have to drop it off at UPS. This part was super convenient for me since my mail box is at the UPS store.

Before your try on period ends, and before sending everything back I do recommend you log in and use the checkout. This is simply you letting them know what you are keeping and what you are sending back. If you do not do this you will be charged and then refunded when they receive the items back. But if you use the checkout you are only charged for the items you are keeping and don’t have to worry about waiting for a refund.

Final Thoughts

Before I tried Amazon Prime Wardrobe I thought this had the potential to be great. After trying it, I think it is currently a good service that still has the potential to be great. I think this works better for me than similar services out there right now.

I have tried a couple of clothing boxes where you try on and send back, but they all choose for you and charge $20 styling fees each time. After trying those multiple times I have yet to receive items I actually would purchase from either of the ones I tried. But with Prime Wardrobe you choose what you want to try yourself, and there is no additional fee beyond what you pay for a Prime Membership.

There are definitely areas Amazon could improve on. The plus size selection is slim, especially when it comes to the more affordable options. I have been told they are planning on increasing the selection, not just for plus size but all sizes. I would like to see them have an option for post office drop offs for anyone who may not have a UPS in their town. And I hope they work out a way that would make it possible to use a debit card for the transaction, that way it could be more accessible to everyone. But only time will tell what sort of improvements are actually going to happen with this service.

Let me know in the comments if you have tried Amazon Prime Wardrobe yet and what you thought.

Product Review – VOGUEKNOCK Waterfall Bead Necklace in Fuchsia

Waterfall pearl necklace and matching earrings

Just like last year, around this time, I will be reviewing a lot of services and products up until December that you might want to consider for gift giving. Yes, it is that time of year again where some of us have already started our Christmas shopping.

The first product I wanted to share with you is this Waterfall Pearl Necklace in Fuchsia. The brand is VOGUEKNOCK and it comes from the Amazon seller VK Accessories.

Layered nacklace from VK Accessories

When you receive your package, this is what you will see:

It arrived in this nice velvet bag. I personally like when jewelry I order comes like this in case I want to keep it separated from my other jewelry. Or if I want to give it as a gift it gives it a little extra special feeling.

Opening the packacke from VK Accessories

When you get into the velvet bag, you can see the necklace also comes wrapped in plastic as well. Though honestly if I were giving this as a gift I do think that I would take the necklace out of the plastic and just put it back into the velvet bag.

In the second bag you see in the front, the bag also contained this package. The white label on the bag simply said free gift. Of course it is a matching pair of earrings.

Waterfall pearl necklace and matching earrings

The chain size varies from 18.5 inches long to 30.5 inches long. It has a nice weight to it. The product page says that the chain color is rose gold, but it most definitely not rose gold. It is yellow gold.

The earrings are on a French hook, and they are in the same yellow gold and matching color of beads. The product page doesn’t really say anything about a free gift, so I don’t know if they always send these, or if this is a random things that happens.

I really am happy with my purchase, and I would highly recommend it for anyone that loves jewelry. Especially those that love layered necklaces. If you want to get one for yourself, you can find it here.

I did receive this item at a discounted price for review purposes. However all thoughts are my own and always honest.

Merry's Fashion Mirrored Cat Eye Sunglasses

Accessories are those finishing touches that take an outfit from just looking good to making you look really put together. You can even make the plainest of outfits look outstanding with the right accessories. That is why I wanted to share with you my top picks for summer accessories. Some of these I own and some of them are on my personal wishlist.

VK Accessories Thread Ball Dangle Earrings

Thread ball dangle earrings

These thread ball dangle earring from VK Accessories are available in six different colors including the black pair I am wearing. I love them, and I am considering ordering one of the other colors. Hello turquoise! This look is one of the hottest trends in earrings for this season.

Light Blue Ombre Tiered Thread Statement Layered Earrings

Another hot look for the summer are these ombre tiered thread earrings. They are available in seven color options, but I think this light blue color is especially eye catching. I know this is on my wishlist.

Layered Tassel Drop Statement Pendant Necklace

Don’t forget to pick up necklace to match those tiered earrings. The necklace is available in two color options. This particular color combo would work with two of the earring color options.

Mirrored Cat Eye Sunglasses

Merry's Fashion Mirrored Cat Eye Sunglasses

Mirrored sunglasses were definitely hot last year. This year take it the extra step and make it cat eye sunglasses like these from MyBruneiStore. They are available in nine color options, though some colors have a more mirrored effect than others. I have on the C04 BLUE.

Galaxy S5 Case 3D Cartoon Unicorn Soft Silicone Rubber Back Cover Skin for Samsung Galaxy S5

Soft Silicone Unicorn Phone Case

Some people might say a stylish phone case is the only phone accessory you need. And since unicorns are all the rage right now, they might be right with this phone case. My old phone case was wearing out, so I just got this one, and I think its super cute. The link above is to the one that fits my phone, a Samsung Galaxy S5. They are also available for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Samsung Galaxy Note 5, LG G Stylo/LG LS770/G4 Stylus/G4 Note, iPhone 5 / 5S Case, iPhone 6 Plus / 6s Plus, and iPhone 7. Depending on which phone you have there is also several color options available.

GUESS Flowers Necklace

Another top trend of the spring and summer is denim and white paired together. But what kind of accessories do you pair with that? Try this flower statement necklace from Guess. I don’t have this exact necklace, but I have something very similar that you will most likely see in a fashion post sometime soon.

Denim Dot Soft Headwrap

While we are talking denim and white accessories, why not try out this really cute headband. I love the vintage feel with the bow and the adorable heart print. This will definitely be on my list to buy soon.

Tell me in the comments below what’s on your must have list for this summer.

The Leaf, By Bellabeat – Where Did You Get That “Necklace”

Over the last month or so you might have noticed in a lot of my pictures I am wearing the same “necklace” over and over again. And it seem like, increasingly, every time I wear it out or in a picture I have someone asking where I got my “necklace”. So I thought I would make a post about it.

Each time someone asks me about where I got my “necklace” I am a little surprised that there is anyone left that doesn’t know about it already. It seems like I have seen it all over social media for well over a year. There was even a waiting list to get it initially. And just so you have a fresh idea of what I am talking about, here are some of the various pictures I have posted here on the blog, and on my various social media accounts, with me wearing the “necklace”.

And by now you have probably deduced with all my use of quotations marks around the word “necklace”, that its not a necklace at all, or at least its not just a necklace. What it actually is, is the Bellabeat Leaf Exclusive. Its a health tracker made to look and be worn like jewelry. So think like a fitbit, but it looks prettier. And it has some special advantages since it is made just for women in mind. First let me tell you a little more about it, and then I will tell you why I decided I wanted one and my overall thoughts on it since using it for almost a month now.

It comes in two color options, they have a silver with natural wood (which is what mine is) and there is a rose gold with black wood. You can wear these three different ways. I have obviously chosen to wear it as a necklace, but you can also wear it like a bracelet, or it can be clipped onto your clothing. Each leaf comes with the necessary items to be able to wear it all three ways. I will insert pictures I got from their website here so you can see what the other options look like.

And I don’t really have any pictures to share of it, but I just received an email saying they have a couple of new jewelry options for the Leaf. I took a look, and one is a really cool looking double wrap bracelet that comes in a couple of color options. And they also have a few new necklace chain options.

As I said before the Leaf is like a fitbit, but it is so much more. Designed by a woman – for women, the LEAF does everything a health tracker should do, and then some:

  • Measures sleep – the LEAF logs sleep quality and quantity, giving the user insight into the number of hours and percentage quality of sleep. The charts within the app let the user compare their periods of light sleep and deep sleep, allowing them to identify what type of day or activity leads to a better night’s sleep.
  • Tracks activity – measures daily movement, burned calories and allows the user to set daily goals to keep them motivated. The app will also let users enter specific sports and activities, giving a detailed overview of their movement throughout the day.
  • Monitors reproductive health – gives a detailed overview of the user’s menstrual cycle and helps women trying to conceive to identify ovulation days and increase their chances of successful conception. By cross-referencing daily activity in the LEAF app with their menstrual cycle, women are able to better understand their health trends during this specific time. The period part of the app is equipped with witty notes designed to brighten up the user during PMS times.Reduces stress – the built-in breathing exercises help the LEAF user cope with stress. By cross-referencing the breathing data with the amount of stress the user might be feeling, the LEAF allows the user to learn which breathing exercises help minimize stress.
  • Keeps things on schedule – the smart alarm feature within the LEAF app lets the user set reminders for things like taking their pill on time or getting tampons, there’s the wake up alarm option and an inactivity alert that warns the user if they’ve been inactive for too long.

I initially wanted a health monitor myself more for the sleep tracking aspect. I have always suffered from severe insomnia as well as sleep walking. I have done sleep studies, but haven’t really found much help, and I thought keeping track of my sleeping patterns might be helpful. I had held back from getting a fitbit because I didn’t like the way they were so bulky and I hate wearing anything on my wrist. When I saw the Leaf come out I thought it was such a great option. And I love that it has so many other things that it helps track like your period. (Story for another day, I have had a hysterectomy but still have a period)

It did take some getting use to remembering to put the necklace back on after a shower, but it didn’t take long. And outside of remembering to put it on, its really comfortable to wear, and it adjusts to various lengths. I really like the app that reminds me to take my pills. Its such a gentler way that a loud alarm on your phone to get the reminder. You only feel your necklace vibrate, and if you don’t remember what it was for you can look at your phone and will tell you what the alarm is for.

I haven’t really played around with the meditation app yet, but I do intend to. And while I am not trying to use it to encourage any extra exercise, I do find it interesting seeing how many steps I take day to day and what activities increase that without me really thinking about it.

Overall I am really happy with mine and if I had it to over again, I would still get it. As I use it more or as I see more products become available I will try and keep everyone updated. In the meantime, for anyone who wants to purchase one for themselves, I searched to see if I could find some special offers or coupon codes. I found this link that if you Order now and get your LEAF with free accessories. Or I also found on Offers Dot Com if you order at the Bellabeat Leaf Exclusive website and use code MYLEAF20, you are suppose to get 20% off your order. It says the coupon expires 5/31/16.

Does anyone else have the Leaf? How do you like yours? What was your main purpose for getting it, or did someone else get it for you?
