I love getting dressed up, and I am always looking for reasons to do so. So when a friend came into to town last week and we met up for dinner, it gave me a chance to try out my Magic Full Sweep Skirt and Boohoo Body Suit.
These skirts are very flowey, and they definitely make you want to twirl.
As for the fit, I typically wear a 20 or 2X at both Lane Bryant and Torrid. In Magic Brand I wear a 3X, it most definitely is sized as a Juniors Plus brand. The length is obviously Maxi length, but it is definitely on the long side even for that. I am 5’8″ and I am wearing it pulled up at an empire length. If I were to try and wear it at my waist I would have been tripping over it even with the wedge heels I had on.
As you can see I have it paired with a Bardot style lace bodysuit.
This bodysuit was from Boohoo Plus, but it is unfortunately no longer available. However, they do have the Plus Jodie Lace Neck Bardot Bodysuit that is very similar in style. The fit for most of Boohoo is pretty average. They are a UK brand, so keep that in mind when ordering. But I do order a 20US or 24UK size.
I have tried to incorporate several pictures of this outfit, maybe more than I would with the average outfit post, because I really wanted you to be able to see this skirt from various angles and in action. And to be honest the pictures still don’t do it justice. The fabric alone is perfection and every step you take makes this billow fabric roll around you.
This is a summary of the looks I wore during week two of the fashion challenge called All Dress April. You can see the original post about the challenge Here or check out The Looks From Week One.
Sorry I am so behind on these guys. I thought I would have more time on vacation to blog, but as it turned out I really had no time to myself at all. We were all go all the time two weekends straight in a row, with only a couple of days in between. But I am in the process of catching things up, I have a couple of other blog post that will be going up in the next couple of days.
On with the Dresses from week two. As with last time I will link anything that is still available to purchase, or alternatively anything I feel is a close alternative from the brand.
We had a very sudden and drastic cold spurt hit us. We went from 80 to 40 overnight. I really had to pull things out of my closet an throw it together as I don’t have a lot of cold weather dresses and skirts.
Both the cardigan and top are from City Chic. The cardigan is no longer available, however the top is still available in a couple of colors. It is available in a red called Siren and a very very light gray called Slate.
The skirt and leggings are from Torrid. The leggings are no longer available, but they have a pair of open skin leggings that would work for the same kind of idea. They have the Skull Open Stitch Leggings. And this isn’t the same Denim Skirt, but it is very similar.
The shoes are Skechers. They are the Relaxed Fit: Savvy – Dressed Up. If you are like me and float between a C and D width and have a hard time finding flats to fit you because of that, I highly recommend you check out Sketchers line of shoes. Plus they have the added benefit of being super comfy with memory foam insoles.
Boots are from Steve Madden Troopa Boots. These are the original ones that fold over and snap in different positions. They are no longer available retail that I know of, but the other versions can be found on places like Amazon.
I am wearing three skirts in this picture. They are layered and all different lengths. The longest one is a dark chocolate brown and it is from Dressbarn. The next longest is black and it is from a brand called Magic. You can find this brand in various places, I know they sometimes sell it on ModCloth. The third and shortest skirt is also black but muli-layered and it is from Torrid. Unfortunately none of these skirts are still available, and I don’t really see anything similar available.
The bronze body suit is from Fashion to Figure, and it is no longer available, nor do they have anything similar.
The corset is from Daisy Corsets. I bought mine on Zulily. I have a post coming up soon specifically about the con, I will try and add other possible options of where to buy them when I post that one.
The accessories will be covered in the post about the con, so look for that post if you are into steampunk, cosplay, or just love costuming.
This was the second, and last, day we were at the International Steampunk Symposium. If you have followed my blog for anytime, you may remember most of this outfit from last years trip to the con. Rather than link everything for this one, you can check out last years post Plus Size Steampunk Fashion – Or How I Became A Unicorn Queen if you are interested in how to get any of these items.
The only thing that has really changed in this costume is the corset. This one is also from Daisy corsets, and like the last one I got it from Zulily. I will also give more info on my upcoming post.
The lace top: Spindoctor
Skirt: Hips and Curves
Shoes: (even though you can’t see it here) Hush Puppies
I had another down day and had to skip wearing a dress this day.
This was another of those super casual days for me where I was just running errands.
This is a maxi dress from eShakti a couple of years ago. I haven’t seen this design pop back up, though I don’t check their site that often. But I snagged it super cheap off the clearance rack because it was a return item.
Had a second day this time I did not do a dress. I was busy packing to leave again.
We were on the road to vacation. So this was another comfortable maxi dress day for me. This one is from One World. I got this one a couple of years ago. They are sold a lot of places where I live. I know Macy’s carries this brand though. And while its too late to get this exact design, this brand always has comfortable maxis and similar designs with various vivid colors.
