Must Have Wide Width and Wide Calf Boots Of Fall/Winter 2017

Shirleen Color-Block Ankle Booties from Fashion To Figure

In the past I have shared with you the best place to find wide calf boots of various widths. But today I want to share with you what is hot right now, and the must have boots for this season that are available in wide widths and/or wide calf. Whether you’re looking for a casual pair of everyday boots or something to make you feel super sexy, this season has it all. With each pair I am sharing I will post the brands description as well as any comments I have and size information.

Right now some of the hottest boots (and clothes) are in lush fabrics like velvet and suede. This is a total trend alert, and I suspect this one will go well on in through the winter. Hope you live in an area that gets cool enough to take part in this one. If you haven’t worn these fabrics before be aware they can get very hot. Here are my top picks for this trend.

Kimberly Velvet Over The Knee Boot

Kimberly Velvet Over The Knee Boot

Looking for the wow factor? Try these lush, velvet wide width over the knee boots. The almond toe and chunky heel add a little something extra to this stylish boot.

This is from Avenue’s Cloudwalker collection, so they are comfortable as well as stylish. Available in two colors, black and burgundy. Sizes 7 to 13 in wide width. It has approximately a 17 inch circumference along with a lace-up calf and a stretch goring panel for comfort.

Lace up back of the stretch velvet wide calf boots from the AvenueI just got a pair of these myself in black, so expect to see these show up in a few of my styled post this winter. I have to say I was a bit surprised when I received them. It calls them velvet, but in person it feels more like what I would call satin. They went on easier than I expected, and are probably some of the sexiest boots I have ever owned.

Circus by Sam Edelman Velvet Rhinestone Combat Boots

Circus by Sam Edelman Velvet Rhinestone Combat Boots from Torrid

An amazing, exclusive collection at Torrid presented by Circus by Sam Edelman. Rich and sumptuous wine red velvet lends a nostalgic, 90’s twist to these comfortable combat boots. The lace up front features sparkly, shiny rhinestone on the tongue.

I suspect these won’t last long, so if you want them get them soon. They come in sizes 6 to 13 wide width. They do come in half sizes, which don’t see very often. And they are made exclusively for Torrid.

Heavenly Soles Embroidered Ankle Boots

Heavenly Soles Embroidered Ankle Boots from Simply Be

The embroidery trend reaches from head to toe and these soft suede boots from Heavenly Soles are sure to make a statement. All-over embroidery detail, block heel and inside zip. Wear with your favorite denim. Find them at Simply Be.

If you want to hit multiple trends, these are the definite ones for you. They are available in sizes 6 to 11 and widths E and EEE.

Another trend we are seeing this year in boots, and somewhat in clothing just not as much, is bright and bold colors. I am a big fan of bright and bold colors from neon to jewel tones, but we usually just don’t see those sort of tones for fall and winter. So I personally think its great to be able to play with these colors all year round. Here are my favorites for this trend.

Faux Suede Ankle Boot with Block Heel

Faux Suede Ankle Boot with Block Heel from Lane Bryant

A pointed-toe ankle boot from Lane Bryant. It has a faux suede upper and block heel. Elastic goring. Back-zip closure. Padded footbed.

Add a pop of blue to your outfits this season with these fantastic ankle boots. They would look fantastic with everything from jeans to dresses. Available in sizes 7 to 12 wide width.

Shirleen Color-Block Ankle Booties

Shirleen Color-Block Ankle Booties from Fashion To Figure

The Shirleen ankle booties  from Fashion To Figure give a nod to mod with color-blocked faux suede and a marbleized block heel. Rock this playful statement pair with everything from mini dresses to skinny jeans.

Available in size 7 to 10 wide width. The heel on this one is probably the highest one so far at 3.5 inches, so if that isn’t your thing, this might not be the one to choose.

Heavenly Soles Pointed Ankle Boots

Heavenly Soles Pointed Ankle Boots from Simply Be

Slip into these pointed toe ankle boots from Heavenly Soles and make a statement this season. Soft uppers with v shape detail and finished on a slim heel.

Find these at Simply Be. They are available in sizes 6 to 11 and widths E and EEE.

There are actually a lot of trends hitting at once this season, and I don’t want to end up listing every shoe on the market. So for this last category I want to include some things from various trends, but I think they group well. I think it comes down to the details. Small details, whether it be corset like lacing or embroidery, are a huge thing this season. Here are my picks.

Tall Lace-Up Boot

Tall Lace-Up Boot from Lane Bryant

From Lane Bryant its their tall lace-up boot with a medium block heel. Faux suede. Elastic goring at back stretches for the perfect fit. Side-zip closure.

Available in sizes 7 to 12 in wide widths. While this one is wide widths, I would not recommend this one for someone who needs a wide calf. Lane Bryant’s website says it is a Calf: 13 1/2″ Shaft: 14 5/8″. It is always helpful to know your calf measurement when boot shopping. It will save you a lot of time and frustration.

Lace Up Lace Heel Boots

Lace Up Lace Heel Boots from Torrid

Pick up the call, girl. These boots from Torrid are taking you out for one wild night. The peep-toe, high-heeled, knee-high style gets lucky in sultry black lace and is naughty by nature with a lace up front.

Coming in at 4.75″ high, these heels are definitely the highest on the list. These go beyond just needing to being comfortable walking in heels like the last pair I mentioned being high. You must be experienced with heels to walk in these. But if you can, wow these are hot! They come in both wide widths and wide calf. It comes in 6 to 13. It is available in half sizes as well.

Hamilton Soutache Trim Tall Boot

Hamilton Soutache Trim Tall Boot from the Avenue

From the Avenue’s Cloudwalkers line. Step into luxury with a tall, faux suede wide width boot featuring delicate soutache trim. These boots will be the centerpiece of any outfit.

If you want a boot with some drama but can’t do a heel, then consider these. They don’t specifically say they are made for a wide calf, but the measurement listed is Approx. 17 inch circumference. And boots can typically start to be called wide calf at around 15.5″.

Plus Size OOTD: How Do You BOHO?

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

So the wonderful people over at Simply Be contacted me and asked if I would like to help show some of their clothes to my readers, and I gladly said yes. The great thing about the clothing at Simply Be is that they have something for every style. Whether you go for the most casual of look or you want something more fashion forward Simply Be has it.

They told me to pick something myself from several different categories. Dresses was one of the categories, and since I am a dress girl I concentrated my search there. I had a hard time making a decision because they have so many styles I love. I ultimately wanted to make sure I showed something that a little different from anything I had shown previously, and that they still had fully in stock all sizes. This ultimately led me to this Joe Browns Stunning Maxi Dress .

For reference on sizing, my measurements are bust 49″ waist 42″ hips 54″. I typically wear a size 20 or 2X in most plus size brands. I have made almost all of the pictures clickable in this post so you can see details of the dress or fit more close up.

Joe Browns Plus Size Maxi Dress available at Simply Be

This dress is available in US sizes 8 to 28. I had a hard time deciding on a size because I had heard that this brand runs small. However, this is my usual size 20 that I am showing here, and this is what I thought:

The fit was great, especially in the waist and hips. And if you are on the bustier side, this might be a great dress option for you. I had plenty of extra room there both on the sides and with the adjustable straps. The length was great for me at 5’8″. I think the length is going to work best for anyone 5’6″ to 5’10” (this is just my opinion and may differ based on where you like for your dress to hit), however if you are shorter I really don’t see anything that would prevent you from having this one hemmed.

This does have an interior lining that hits just above the knee on me. There isn’t really any stretch to the fabric, so make sure that you order the size that you need, and not something your counting on stretching to fit. The straps are wide, yes wide enough to wear with a bra.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

The pictures do not do this one justice, it is even prettier in person. I love the BOHO style and all the little unique details this dress has. There is a tasseled tie cord at the bust. And embroidery abounds. You have an embroidered bib and two stripes that run parallel down the front of the dress. And in the embroidery there are tiny yellow gold sequins dispersed throughout.

I think one of the great things about the BOHO style, especially with more minimalistic looks like this, you can really accessorize in a lot of different ways. While you might think of boho as being very plain, at the heart of it the boho lifestyle is all about being a free spirit. So why shouldn’t you be free to do what you want and wear what you want with a look like this. So I actually decided to style this dress a couple of different ways.

Joe Brown Stunning Maxi Dress paired with Bear Claws and a Multi-Sac

I kept the same minimalistic makeup for both looks. I also have curls in my hair for both looks, but with this one I kept my hair like I normally wear it with no accoutrement. I paired it with the BareTraps Jeeny sandals, the Reflex Tote from Multi-Sac in the color Hazel, and Flip-up Round Lens Metal Frame Sunglasses. Check out each of the accessories closer up below.

With the second look I still wanted to stay kind of simple, because that is more true to who I am and what I like 80% of the time when it comes to accessories, but I also wanted to do something that read as being a little more glam to me.

BOHO GLAM look with Joe Browns and Simply Be

For this look I stuck with all black and gold accessories. I really wanted to play up the accents of gold from the sequins on the dress. I changed up my hair just a tad. And the only thing I changed about my makeup was the color of lip gloss I had on.

Joe Brown Dress from Simply Be Styled with Urban Expression, Avenue Sandals, and other accessories

For my accessories I added a gold chain headband that came from a three-piece set I got on Amazon just recently. It’s really thin, and you can just barely see it in the picture. But in person it looked great with the dress and gave it a slight 70’s flare. I have on a lace butterfly choker that I have had for a while. The purse is a fold over crossbody bag from Urban Expressions. The shoes are the Sybil sandal from the Avenue’s Cloud Walker line. Check out the close-ups below.

I really think this is a dress that you will not regret adding to your wardrobe. There are so many more ways you could style this dress. And what a great dress for festival wear. And don’t forget to check out all the other great clothes from the Joe Browns line at Simply Be, as well as all the other wonderful brands of dresses. They really do have something for everyone.

Tell me in the comments below how you BOHO. How would you style this dress? Do you prefer a more minimalistic boho, boho glam, boho chic, etc..?

Week 2 of #AllDressApril 2017

All Dress April 2017 #AllDressApril

All Dress April 2017 #AllDressApril

That’s right, we made it all the way through all of week two of All Dress April 2017. If you missed it you can catch up on Week One here.

Week two was mostly uneventful. I missed one day again, but I did not share a past outfit. I just felt really bad that day.

Day 8

Day 8 for all dress April Torrid Top Cato Skirt

This was one of those rare in between temperature days here in Kentucky. We usually only have temperature extremes, so I have a lot of clothes for both of those and not a lot of the in between temps you typically think of for Spring and Fall. This was me running out of in between things and throwing something together and hoping for the best.

So the top is from Torrid. I don’t believe they currently have it, but this is a top they bring back all the time in various colors and patterns. The skirt came from Cato’s last fall. It is supposed to be a patchwork style skirt. I love the way it looks, but it really just doesn’t go with anything in my closet. I most likely will be getting rid of it soon as I will be cleaning out items at the end of the month to make room for new.

Day9

Day of #AllDressApril City Chic Dress Rainbow Robin Dress

This beauty is from City Chic. It is their Rainbow Robin Dress, however it is no longer available to my knowledge. Don’t let that stop you from checking out City Chic though. They have tons of styles and prints to suit just about everyone.

Day 10

This was the day that I skipped.

Day 11

Torrid Insider Crop Top and Skirt for day 11 of All Dress April

This lace crop top and maxi skirt was from last years Torrid Insider Collection. I originally bought this to wear to a friend’s wedding, but the theme of the wedding got changed and I wore something different. Taking this picture was the one and only time it has been worn. So this will also be most likely leaving my closet at the end of the month.

Day 12

Maxi Dress from the Avenue for day 12 f #AllDressApril

This body con watercolor print maxi dress came from the Avenue. I have only worn it a few times, but I absolutely love it. The fabric is so soft to the touch. And the cut hugs the body just right.

Day 13 & 14

Day 13 and 14 of All Dress April had me wearing this Maxi Dress from One World

This One World Maxi got worn day thirteen and fourteen. I know you are probably wondering why I would wear the same dress two days in a row. Well since I work from home I often wear PJs while I am here. And on day thirteen I only left my house for maybe ten or fifteen minutes. So I put it back on the next day.

Plus Size OOTD – That’s Punked Up

Wide calf boots from the Avenue

Today I have for you another soft punk look for you. I actually wore this out to pick up groceries and run other errands right after taking these pictures and it got a lot of compliments. I actually live in a relatively conservative area of the US too. So just don’t be afraid to try new things because you are afraid of what people might think.

Plus size outfit of the day

I am wearing the Torrid V-Neck Sweater in Black. However this seems to be only available in size 00 now. But they do have it in a dark red color as well which can be found on both Torrid’s Website and Amazon.

Plus Size outfit from Torrid and Avenue

These exact pants are no longer available. I purchased them last year. However the Luxe Stretch Skinny Pant in Plaid Print are pretty close. They are available both on Torrid’s Website and on Amazon.

Wide calf boots from the Avenue

The boots are from the Avenue. However they are completely sold out and I do not see anything similar.

In the comments below let me know if you have tried any of these soft punk looks since they have been back in style? Is it too far out of your comfort zone, or maybe you like a harder look.

Product Review – Sole Patches

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Sole Patches

I was recently sent a box of Sole Patches to try out. I was pretty excited to give these a try, and let me tell you why. I love shoes, especially heels. As someone who has had to cut back on how often I wear my heels due to the foot and back pain they can cause, I would love to find a product that would enable me to wear them more often.

Sole Patches are a cushion that can be worn in one of three way with your heels to make them more comfortable. You may be thinking to yourself that there is nothing new about that, there are already lots of cushions made to go into your shoes for comfort. And if that is what you are thinking, then you would be partially right. There are a couple of big differences though, and those differences play a part in why I was so excited to try Sole Patches.

With most traditional cushions for your shoes, you have two options. You can go with the insert type, which only works with closed toe shoes and rarely works with heels because they won’t stay in place. Or you can go with the pads that stick to bottom of the shoe. You place them where you think you need them. While these can be worn with any shoes, I always found the adhesive to be lacking and the cushion slides out by the end of the day. And while Sole Patches says sticking the patches to the shoe is a option, and a permanent one at that, it is not the main recommended use.

Sole Patches are actually made to be stuck directly on to your skin and then can be disposed with at the end of the day. If you use them in this fashion versus sticking them to your shoes, then you can easily switch shoes throughout the day with ease and still have the comfort of the cushions.

Sole Patches out of the box

I was sent the same box they have available for sale on their website. Each box contains six patches or three sets. Since I had three sets to test out, I wanted to be as thorough as possible in my testing. I thought the best thing to do was try each set out in very different types of shoes to see if it made any difference in how they wore and stood up through the day.

Three pairs of shoes I tries Sole Patches with

So the first thing I did was check out the directions to make sure I applied them properly.

Back of the Box of Sole Patched with Directions.

Directions:

– Make sure your foot is clean and dry.

– Flex your foot. This will ensure pad sticks to optimal surface area.

– Aim for the ball of your foot, the heel, or wherever you find pain/soreness to be a problem. (Optional: Stick to shoe for permanent fixation.)

– Remove adhesive backing from Sole Patches and apply.

That is all there is too it. Pretty simple.

Now before we get into how they worked with each of the shoes lets take a look at what the product claims are. Here is what the box says:

The moisture-repelling, odor-repelling, anti-microbial, shock-absorbing properties cushion your feet while walking in uncomfortable shoes, eliminating the pain and soreness you once felt after a long day! Prevents feet from sliding forward. Medical-grade adhesive is super durable and will withstand up to hours of wear, giving you the flexibility to change into multiple pairs of shoes! Don’t commit to just one pair.

Day 1 Of Testing

Botties from The Avenue.

For the first day I wanted to try out the Sole Patches in this pair of booties from the Avenue. While they are not the most uncomfortable shoes I own, I can never seem to where them to really walk in. They are mainly a put them on go out to dinner come home kind of shoes. Or occasionally I will take photos in them. Anything more than a couple of hours and I am not a happy camper in these.

So after I adjusted the Sole Patches on my feet I then, I then tried to slip my booties on. Unfortunately it was a bit of a struggle with having the patches on my feet and trying to slip them in the narrow neck of the booties. After it was all said and done I never could get my foot into the boots comfortably with the patches on. I could get my feet in, but it always felt like the patches were bunched up under my feet. After 15 minutes of trying to make it work, I gave up. I ended up taking them off and going with my comfortable shoes for the day. I had places to be.

And I do want to offer a bit of fair warning to anyone who may have sensitive feet. If you decide to take a pair of these off soon after putting them on, they aren’t super easy to take off. I wouldn’t say they are painful, but it was a bit uncomfortable. I would say that it was a similar sensation to that of yanking a Band-Aid off.

Day 2 Of Testing

TUK cat shoes I bought on ModCloth

For the second day I chose this pair of T.U.K.s I bought from ModCloth a couple of years ago. Again, they aren’t the most uncomfortable ones I own, but I would really like to increase the amount of time I can wear them. In the past two hours has been the maximum I could go in these.

I had a much easier time sliding these on with the Sole Patches on my feet. So I already felt victorious there. I almost instantly felt a difference in the comfort level. I did take a change of shoes with me, just in case, because I had a really long day scheduled full of running errands. I wanted to make sure there was a backup in case the Sole Patches didn’t work for me. Just like with the last pair, my longest run of wearing them was around two hours before my feet started to hurt, and that was without a lot of walking.

As I moved through my day I noticed at the two hour mark that I was still feeling pretty comfortable. Of course at that point I had done minimal walking, but I would normally have been in pain at this point with the same amount of activity. This had me feeling quite hopeful. From that point on I was quite a bit more active, my day involved a lot more walking. And I am happy to say at the four hour mark I was still feeling relatively comfortable.

However it was after this point that things started slowly breaking down. Around the five hour mark I was starting to hurt a bit. And by six hours, when I made it home, my feet were starting to ache. I had noticed for the last hour that the Sole Patches were feeling a little loose, and when I took my shoes off I could definitely tell they were indeed coming loose from my skin. (See picture below to see it coming off after wear) I also had started to slide down in my shoe a bit in the last hour, and I notice when I took my shoes off my right foot had developed a blister on the small toe from all the walking.

Sole Patches pulling away from my skin at the end of the day.

Even though it didn’t have me dancing in the street for a full twenty-four hours, I still found the increase wear quite impressive. I seriously doubt I would ever be able to walk in any shoes a straight twenty-four hours to even test it out.

Day 3 Of Testing

Eva & Zoe platform heels

On the third day I decided to try the Sole Patches out while wearing these Eva & Zoe platform heels. This particular pair of heels have always been those shoes that you wear a different pair of shoes to the restaurant of choice. You put this pair on right before walking into the restaurant. You go get seated, eat, and leave. And then you immediately change back into the other shoes once you are out of the restaurant.

I didn’t really have any errands to run for the third day. I was only cleaning house. So this unfortunately prevented me from fully testing them out, because its just not possible (at least for me) to clean in these. However I was able to put them on for a while and test them. For this pair they slid on find. I did find that it made them a little uncomfortably tight though. The comfort was there, and I was able to walk around fine. I only had them on for about a half an hour, but that was already well past the usual breaking point in this pair of shoes.

Overall I really like these. I think they are worth a try if you are a shoe lover who would like to extend the wear time of your shoes. Though as you saw from my experience they may not be wearable with all shoes.

I you would like more information on Sole Patches or to find out where to purchase them you can find that on their website.

Tell me in the comments below, have you or would you give these a try?

Goth And Grunge Goes Soft And Romantic For Fall

Plus size ootd soft goth and grunge mix look.

If you always been that girl who always wanted to try a goth or grunge look but were afraid it would just be too much for you, then your time has arrived. The 90’s are back in a big way. Soft goth and soft grunge are two of the biggest looks for fall. It’s still goth and/or grunge, but its a little softer, a little more feminine, and a lot more romantic looking.

Take all those elements you associate with either of those looks and add some lace, some soft edges, and add in a sprinkling of color.

For me one of the great things about fashion, and makeup, is there are no real rules. Why not take small elements of those things you like and incorporate it into your everyday wear. Or mix grunge with goth. The only limits you really have are your own imagination and of course any work week rules that may be enforced at your job. Don’t be afraid to experiment.

As we move through the next couple of months, maybe longer, I think you will find me playing around with mixing in a lot of these pieces in my wardrobe. I really loved a lot of edgier pieces when I was younger, and I really am happy to have some of it back.

Just a quick reminder my typical size at most true plus size brands is 20W or 2X. And my bra size is 40DDD verging on a G cup depending on the brand.

plus size Soft grunge and soft goth

You can’t really tell from the picture, but I am wearing the Torrid Multi Zip Jeggings in the Dark Wash. Since the top covers the zipper detail, here is what they look like.
In most Torrid Jeggings I can size down to an 18W, but these seem to fit more true to size and I need the 20W. However I feel like these fit me the best out of any jeans I currently own. Most of the Jeggings line fits me well, but I like the way these actually taper close to my ankle. If you have a really thick ankle, this may not be a good fit for you.

In addition to the great fit I love the zipper detail. It gives them a bit of an edgier look than your average jean. Sometimes it’s just about those little details.

Plus size outfit from Lovesick, Torrid, and the Avenue.

The plaid top I have paired with it was purchased last year from Torrid. They don’t seem to have any of them this year or anything similar. But I did find this Plaid Lace Up Back Bustier which could go towards creating the same sort of look.
Over that I have on the Hacci Open Cardigan from Lovesick. Mine is in a rich berry color, but they sold out of that color almost immediately. But I have linked you to the black one.

Mixing styles for fall to acheive a soft grunge and soft punk look.

My shoes are a pair of Cloud Walkers from the Avenue that I bought two or three years ago. However if you would like something that gives you a similar look you could try the Easy Street Women’s Arlene Boot. It’s available in multiple colors and it comes in wide width.

You can easily accessorize with a choker or half gloves. Play around with what makes you happy.

So tell me in the comments below if you plan on incorporating these types of pieces into your wardrobe or do you feel intimidated by these styles? Were you around in the 90’s when these styles were at their height before? And if so did you try them then?

This OOTD Goes BOHO With Lovesick

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

BOHO or bohemian, whichever you prefer to call it, has been one of the hottest trends this summer and is continuing into the fall. So back when I took you Inside The Dressing Room at Lovesick with me this summer, I picked up a outfit that is perfect for this fall.

Plus Size Boho outfit of the dayI have on the Welt Pocket Flare Jeans. They do have a couple of sizes left in these. If you want them, get them while you can because they are marked down on clearance for $14.98. And their Lovenotes sale is going on right now, so you could potentially get this for as little as $7.50. For those of you not aware, Lovenotes at Lovesick are just like Hautecash at Torrid.

Paired with the jeans I have on the Paisley Print Swing Tank Top. It is also on clearance for $14.98. And on top of that I have on the Fringe Trim Vest, also on clearance for $14.98.

Lovesick jeans, tank and vest paired with Avenue boots and Cato accessories

I also have on a pair of booties from the Avenue that I bought on Amazon. They are the Avenue Women’s Rina Wide Buckle Bootie. And the necklace and earing set I have on is from Cato’s Fashions. They are long sold out of it, but I found this Layered Faux Suede Charm Necklace that has the same sort of feel to it.

Plus Size outfit of the day featuring Lovesick, Cato Fashions, and Avenue

Let me know in the comments below if you have tied out Lovesick yet. And are you feeling the BOHO look? What look would you like to come back into style?

Transitioning Your Wardrobe From Summer To Fall

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Society Plus Flash Sale on Cardigans. One day only for 10-6-16

You spend a lot of money on your wardrobe. Or maybe you’re struggling just to buy one or two new pieces of clothing a year. No matter what your budget, finding a way to make your clothing wearable for a longer period of time is something we all want. If you saw my latest Inside The Dressing Room post a few weeks ago, you have already seen the inspiration and basics of this piece. But I still wanted to share this look fully styled.

First lets talk about the dress that we are transitioning into a fall look.

Lace Sundress from Torrid

This is Torrid’s Floral Lace Sundress. Chance’s are some of you may already have this dress or one similar. Or if you are interested in it they still have limited sizes available. You can actually purchase it both on Torrid’s Website or on Amazon.

This is pretty much how I wore it this summer. By itself, just paired with some shoes like these LifeStride Women’s Persephone Wedge Sandal that I am wearing. Sorry you can’t see them super well, my camera got moved a bit while I was taking the pictures.

To transition this dress into fall we just need to add some things.

Plus Size Sundress and Cardigan paired with booties

I paired with it the Plus Size Open Front Cardigan in Cocoa that I picked up in Forever 21. I also changed from the shoes to boots. These are the Avenue’s Rina Wide Buckle Bootie in Tan. You can purchase them on the Avenue’s Website or on Avenue Women’s Rina Wide Buckle Bootie. (Just a note for anyone looking to save some money. I personally bought my boots on Amazon. I was buying the boots only. The actual price is a couple of dollars more on Amazon, but shipping is free. On the Avenue’s website you have to spend $150 to get free shipping, so when I added it up it was cheaper to buy on Amazon.)

Now to add the finishing touch.

Transitioning a Torrid sundress to fall with a pair of boots, a sweater, and a purse

I added one of my favorite Jessica Simpson Bags to finish the look. The bag I have is from a couple of years ago, so I don’t think it’s still available. However I think the Jessica Simpson Neilson Fringe Trim Hobo Bag would be equally amazing with this look.

Thanks to the colors in this dress it could be changed up in many ways, not just for fall, but spring as well. You could easily change the cardigan to a bright coral and a put on a pair of closed toed pumps to be spring ready.

I would love to see how some of you have transitioned your outfits for fall. You can post them in the comments here or tag me on social media. If you tag me on Instagram I may even repost some of your beautiful pictures.

10 Plus Size Brands You Might Be Surprised To Find On Amazon

plus size on Amazon

plus size on Amazon

If you ever search the plus size clothing section at Amazon you know it can be a real crap shoot sometimes. A large percentage of the brands are companies no one has ever heard of before or they are in China and using Asian sizing. Can we give a moment of serious side eye to those Asian size charts please? And speaking of size charts, a lot of brands don’t even bother to give us one even though they are no where close to the general size chart posted by Amazon themselves.

It’s seriously enough to give a girl shopping anxiety. But sometimes Amazon seems like the easiest way to shop rather than navigating twenty different websites trying to find that perfect dress or sweater. But long gone are the days of Amazon only being those unheard of brands in plus size clothing. I wanted to share with you ten plus size brands you might be surprised to find on Amazon.

I wanted to make this as helpful and easy as possible. So if you click on the brand name it should take you to the complete listings available from that brand, and I have made all the pictures clickable to take you to those product pages. I tried to pick out a couple of key pieces from each of the companies that I really like, some of which I already own.

1. Torrid

Available in sizes 00 to 6, just like they are in the store and their website. If you are not familiar with Torrid I would be really surprised. They have been around for over twenty years now and have been growing by leaps and bounds in recent years. I doubt you will get many of the sale prices on Amazon, but since most of their sales rely on you buying multiple items, if you are only going for one item buying on Amazon may be a good choice for you. It also seems like a good portion of the items have free Prime Shipping.

Sarcastic Never Scoop Tee $28.90

Cropped Denim Anorak Jacket $58.50

2. Hell Bunny

Their plus sizes are available in sizes 2XL to 4XL just as they are anywhere else that carries them. A word of warning though, these are not typically sized. A 4XL is meant to fit a size 18. I personally can only wear Hell Bunny if it’s a stretchy fabric and a style with open hips. But this is a great option for those ladies in sizes 14 to 18. If you are unfamiliar with Hell Bunny, they encompasses a wide variety of styles from 40s, 50s, retro and rockabilly to gothic, rock and punk styles. The reason to shop this brand on Amazon comes down to they have items that seem to be no longer available anywhere else, as well as some items are selling cheaper on Amazon.

Hell Bunny Plus Size Black Gothic Zombie Pin Up 50’s Ice Scream Dress $59.99

Hell Bunny plus size Lady Moria Tea Dress

Hell Bunny Plus Size 40’s Vintage Style Office Lady Moira Tea Dress $79.00

3. Igigi

Available in sizes 14 to 28. Igigi fits true to size and was one of the first designer level brands made exclusively for plus size women. They have been mostly known for their dresses, but also carry a range of work wear separates. They have lost some traction in the fashion world since the founder and original designer of the brand, Yuliya Raquel, left a few years ago. However some of the original designs are still there and its well worth looking at. Why shop Amazon for this brand? Well it seems to be the only place you can buy it at the moment, at least as I write this. The Igigi website is down and says they are undergoing a major make-over getting ready for a relaunch. Hmmm…. And trust me, the prices listed below are not the average Igigi prices, get them while you can. Plus free shipping for Prime members.

Igigi Fredrica Lace Dress in Wine

IGIGI Women’s Plus Size Frederica Lace Dress in Wine $68.49

Igigi Plus Size Jacket in Camel

IGIGI Women’s Plus Size Notch Collar Jacket in Camel $88.99

4. City Chic

Available in sizes XS to XX Large. Those are plus sizes though and are equivalent to sizes 14 to 24. If you have been following me for any time at all you know that City Chic ranks high as one of my favorite plus size brands both for style and customer service. They are an Australian brand that has only recently started opening stores in the US. The only real advantage I see in buying them on Amazon is convenience. Maybe you are already shopping Amazon and you don’t want to take the time to switch sites.

City Chi plus size fit and flare dress

High Quality Plus Size Mono Sheer Panel Fit & Flare Dress $84.15

City Chic Off Shoulder Plus Size Dress

High Quality Plus Size Shadow Stripe Dress $89.00

5. BB Dakota

Their plus size selection is available in sizes 1X to 3X. Sizes run slightly smaller than typical plus size, but not enough to consider them junior plus. While this company does have their own website you can not buy directly from them on their website. You can find them places like ModCloth. So why shop this brand on Amazon? Well if one of those coveted items on ModCloth passed you by, you may just find it here and at a better price. Plus free prime shipping on all their items, no minimum purchase.

BB Dakota Plus Size Midi Dress

BB Dakota Women’s Plus-Size Dorit Rose Revival Printed Crepon Midi Dress $33.13 – $39.84

BB Dakota Plus Size striped ponte midi dress

BB Dakota Women’s Plus Size Jamal Striped Ponte Midi Dress $72.59 – $98.00

6. Avenue

Available in sizes 14/16 to 30/32. This brand runs true to size to slightly large depending on the item. From what I can tell you can get just about all the same things both on Amazon and the company’s website. Amazon does seem to be reflecting Avenue’s sale prices. And while they are not eligible for free prime shipping all items are marked free shipping for eligible orders. So this again may be one to chalk up to convenience.

Avenue Plus Size Chiffon Skirt

Avenue Women’s Scalloped Chiffon Skirt $28.88

Avenue Ruched Plus Size Sweater

Avenue Women’s Windowpane Ruched Pullover $24.00

7. Kiyonna

Available in sizes 0X to 5X. This brand runs true to size in most items, but some run a bit small. Kiyonna, like Igigi, is one of the first designer level clothing brands made exclusively for plus size women. Prices seem reflective of what is available on the Kiyonna website. So why buy on Amazon? No minimum purchase to get free prime shipping. On Kiyonna’s website you must spend $150.00 to get free shipping.

Kiyonna lus Size Daydream Top

Kiyonna Women’s Plus Size Destination Daydream Top $64.00

Kiyonna Charlize Maxi Dress

Kiyonna Women’s Plus Size Charlize Maxi Dress $78.00

8. Modamix

Available in sizes 0X to 3X or 14 to 24 depending on how the item is labeled. This brands seems to run true to size from my experience. Modamix relatively young company sold at places like Macy’s, Nordstrom, and  Lord & Taylor as well as couple of subscription service companies. They specialize in both classic pieces with youthful prints and unique stylish pieces. So why buy this brand on Amazon? In addition to free Prime shipping, the price point seems a little better through Amazon. Also Amazon seems to be the only truly accessible to everyone way to get this brand. Every other way requires either membership to a subscription service or living in or near a large enough city to have one of those stores.

Modamix Plus Size Scuba Bodycon Dress

Modamix Women’s Plus Size Printed Scuba Bodycon Dress $18.17 – $27.72

ModaMix Plus Size Long Sleeve Dress

Modamix Women’s Plus Size Mixed Media Long Sleeve Dress $129.00

9. SWAK or Sealed With A Kiss Designs

Available in sizes 1X to 6X. Most items fit true to size, though their size chart can be a bit confusing at times. Sometimes when they say bust measurement they mean under bust. So if a measurement seems really small or really large to you, that may be why. Most if not all of SWAK’s items are super stretchy and comfortable. While they do try to keep things trendy, there is definitely a  more casual feel to a lot of their items. Why purchase on Amazon? Once again there is that added incentive of free prime shipping and just a matter of convenience.

SWAK Plus Size Juliet Dress

SWAK Designs Womens Plus Size Juliet Dress $49.99

SWAK plus size maxi dress

SWAK Designs Women’s Plus Size Bonnie Maxi Dress $69.90

10. Yours Clothing

Available in sizes 14 to 34 on Amazon, 16 to 36 on the companies website. They are a UK retailer, so I am sure the size change is to allow for the difference in sizing. Yours Clothing carries not only their own line but many other brands as well, including some of the brands we have already talked about. They have a wide selection from basics to fashion forward pieces. Why buy them on Amazon? It looks like you get quicker delivery time through Amazon as well as having the added buyer protection Amazon gives. Unfortunately when you deal with international shipping you never know what can go wrong.

Plus Size long sleeve swing dress from Yours Clothing

Plus Size Womens Burgundy Lace Up Swing Dress With Long Flared Sleeves $23.00

Plus Size sheer duster from Yours Clothing

Plus Size Womens Sheer Chiffon Duster Maxi Shirt Dress With Front Splits $68.00

So what other brands should we know about being on Amazon? Do you prefer to shop on Amazon over a companies website? If so why?
