Product Review – The Daiso Silicone Sheet Mask Cover
This review is for the Daiso Reusable Silicon Sheet Mask Cover. I have had mine for about a month now, and have lots of time to use it with different types of masks. I initially was not planning on reviewing this product but I was asked to by a couple of Instagram followers who saw the picture I posted of mine when it first came in. So I am more than happy to give my thoughts on it.
First off they tell you the color you receive is random, which is fine but it is also true. As you can see the one pictured above is a pinkish color, and the one I received was completely clear.
If you are complete sheet mask addict like me, you may already know about these and know what they are for. But for those of you who aren’t familiar, lets take a look at what the company says about them:
A super hit “mask cover” maked of elastic silicon, which is comfortable to skin, re-usable. It comes with ear loops to keep the mask in place. There are 3 ways that you can use the mask. How to use (a) wrapping effect – wear over a sheet mask, it prevents mask essence from evaporating, helps reserve the maximum amount of essence for skin nourishment, (b) keep in position – wear with the ear loops to prevent the mask from slipping off when you move and so you can do more things than ever rather than resting, (c) use in bath-use in bath without a sheet mask, it works as a face steaming mask for relaxing purpose to re-use it, simply wash and keep it clean after used.
Let me say first that I don’t think points A and B are necessarily two separate things as they are saying, but that was okay for me. I mainly ordered this for the freedom of walking around while using a mask. If you are a casual sheet mask user it probably isn’t a big deal, but when you use them five nights a week it can sometimes be inconvenient to have to stop and lay down for ten to thirty minutes every night.
I was a little concerned based on some peoples comments saying that some brands of these can run really small (just like sheet masks do) and that they didn’t fit their faces or they were so tight that the straps hurt their ears. This was a concern for me because I have a larger than average head size for a woman, I can never find hats that fit me. Only select brands of sheet masks fit me just right. Most range from just a tad too small to way too small that its funny. However I am happy to report that this one fit perfectly fine. As you can see it does fit snugly, but that is what you want it to do to hold everything in place.
And for anyone who is wondering where I got them, you can check out my previous post about where I get my headbands that I use for my beauty routine.
I can’t really offer any opinions on using it as a steaming mask as I do not get to take baths on the regular. Our tubs are just not deep enough, so I am stuck showering. However I may give it a try at least once the next time I take a vacation.
I can talk about the wrapping effect though. This does work quite well for extending the wear of your mask. Its really important to not let them get too dry on your skin because it can start to actually leach the moisture back out of your skin if it does. This mask cover keeps your sheet mask from getting dry for quite a while.
I have found that for me it works best with cream type essence masks or ones that are just made for soothing the skin. I didn’t personally care for using it with anything containing hyaluronic acid as it takes away the cooling tingling effect you often get with that type of sheet mask, at least that was my experience. I also found it was best to avoid using this on especially hot days as it does get a little warm from holding in the body heat.
It is really easy to clean. If I used it with a watery essence based mask then I just rinse it with water and wipe it off. But if I have something more substantial on the mask then I just use a tiny bit of face wash to wash it with and again just rinse it and wipe it off. I then always hang it up on a hook just to make sure if I missed wiping any of the water off it will have a chance to air dry.
So is this a must have product? I think it really falls into a question of your beauty routine. If you use sheet masks three times or more a week its probably a must for you. However if you use it less often its probably less necessary and its more up to whether you just want to give it a try. Its probably great for the person who never has a spare minute to sit down to use a sheet mask but really wants to.
Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. So tell me, who else has tried this? Were you happy with yours? Did you get the same brand?
