The Sephora Black Friday Sale 2018

The Sephora Black Friday preview

If you don’t have the Sephora App, then you may not have seen the list for Sephora’s Black Friday sale. A few days ago an app exclusive preview popped up showing all the things going on the sale. But if you missed it, don’t worry, I got you. I managed to get screen shots of everything.

The Sephora Black Friday preview

Just like previous years everything is going to be under $15. And I suspect also like previous years there will be some items that sell out very quickly while others will not sell at all. I will be making some comments here and there about which items I feel are the best value, or what I think should be skipped and why. Please keep in mind that all opinions expressed here are just that, opinions.

There were no links to these items in the app, so I will not be linking to them here in my post. Sephora usually does a pretty good job of making it easy to find their sale items though, so it shouldn’t be a big deal.

So let’s take a look at what’s actually on sale this year.

IT Cosmetics, First Aide Beauty, Benefit Cosmetics, and Tarte all on sale at Sephora for Black Friday

Obviously in this group the best deal is the Ultra Repair Cream from First Aid Beauty, but I think all of these sets are decent deals too. There isn’t anything more to really say about any of these.

Tarte, Too Faced, Philosophy, and Sephora Collection on the Black Friday sale

It’s not a brand I use but I know Philosphy has a pretty strong fan base, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that Purity Cleanser ends up being an item that sells out quickly. The Tarte and Too Faced sets would make great stocking stuffers for the beauty lovers in your life, and I expect they will sell well, even if they don’t sell out fast. I may be wrong about this but I don’t see the Sephora Collection sponge set selling out. No doubt they will get some sales, but I just don’t think its most people’s choice sponge.

Kat Von Dee, Pat MaGrath Labs, Clinique, and Milk Makeup on the Black Friday sale at Sephora

Now we come to the items where I have a little more to say about them. Lets talk about them one at a time.

The Pat McGrath Labs MatteTrance Lipstick at first glance looks like a great deal. I think most of all this is because everything from this brand is super expensive. But the two important things to notice are that this is a mini size and they don’t have a value listed for this product. The full size of these lipsticks sell for $38.00, but minis can mean a lot size wise. I just don’t know if you are really getting a good value here. It does say this is exclusive to Sephora. And it is limited edition. I don’t know if the color is limited edition or if it’s the color in this size. I personally will be passing on this one. But if you just want to be able to say you tried something from Pat McGrath, then maybe its worth it for you.

When it comes to both the Milk Makeup and Kat Von Dee set, I feel like these are both sets that we have already seen or something really similar. Your not really getting much of a savings, probably nothing more than any other value set. So I’m not really sure how this is Black Friday sale worthy either. I just don’t see these selling well honestly, and I won’t be surprised if they are on the weekly wow in a few weeks.

The Clinique Clarifying Lotion is definitely a sweet deal, and if it is something you use on the regular it would be great to stock up on. But I don’t think most people are going to look at this and think its the most exciting product. I guess what I am saying is, I just don’t think it will sell out. Not because it’s not a good product or value. But when people shop black Friday they are usually looking for deals on those things they are either dying to try, but can’t justify paying full price on, or shopping for Christmas presents, or occasionally stocking up on their old faithful products. This might be an old faithful product for some people, but it’s not going to be for the majority.

PLAY! Smarts, BECCA, Versace, Peter Thomas Roth all on the Black Friday Sale

The BECCA set is a fantastic deal, and it is a little different from the usual set that comes out around this time of year. It looks like this set also includes one of the Glow Glosses. This set will definitely be something I am personally considering getting.

I also think the Peter Thomas Roth set is a great deal. This is another set that I won’t be surprised if it sells out rather quickly. The brand and a lot of its products have a rather cult following, but there are still a lot people who haven’t tried this and want to, so I think it will have big appeal.

Now lets talk about the other two sets. The Versace set again isn’t a great value, so unless it’s just someone who collects minis I just don’t see this selling big. And I am little stunned that the PLAY Smarts set is on here. I don’t know what Sephora is pulling, but this was just on their sale rack for the same price? Who are you trying to fool Sephora?

Smashbox, Caudalie, Sephora Play! Smarts, and Stila on this years Black Friday Sale at SephoraI personally can not use Caudalie because of my allergy, but they are another brand that has a bit of a cult following. I think their set is definitely a great deal, and I expect it to sell well.  l

As for the Stila set, I’m just not sure. I am a huge fan of Stila products, even before their liquid eyeshadows came out. But is this what will actually interest people from them? I’m doubtful. The price isn’t bad, but it’s not fantastic either.

And what do I think won’t sell? The Smashbox palette and the Sephora Play box. Here again we have an item that is not given a value, so it most likely isn’t a deal. And the other item has already been on Sephora’s sale page for weeks for this same price. You are killing me Sephora.

Cover FX, Sephora Collectin, Philosphy, and Alterna Haircare will be on the Sephora Black FridaySale.

The Philosphy set and the Alterna Haircare set are both excellent values. I think that what I said previously about Philosphy will hold true here as well. This set may even sell faster since it is a limited edition set. I don’t know about the Alterna Haircare as much. It is a good value, but will people be excited about hair care?

Both the Cover FX and Sephora Collection items are decent deals if they are things you are interested in. I personally am interested in the Cover FX set. And while there are better deals in this Black Friday sale, this is an item that I want to try. I have other colors of the drops and I love them, but a full size takes forever to use. Getting a mini is a superior option for me. And it looks like the other item included is one of the shimmer veils, which I haven’t had the opportunity to try. No for the Sephora palette, I’m not personally excited for this, but it might make a great stocking stuffer for my young niece who is asking for makeup for Christmas.

Sephora Collection, Clinique, Clarisonic, and Jack Black on the Black Friday sale at Sephora

If you are a Clarisonic user, the stocking stuffer set is a phenomenal deal. I know it will be on my list of things I will be trying to get. Since it says it is for radiant skin and by the look of the picture, it will most likely be their radian brush head and radiant gel cleanser in this set.

All of the other products are reasonably decent deals. But the only one I really think will zoom off the shelf will be the Jack Black set. There has been a lot of buzz recently about the brand, and with the hit of extremely cold temperatures in a lot of places, this may be a welcomed item. Its pretty obvious this is a set of their balms, but what varieties? After examining the picture, my best guess would be that this will contain Shea Butter & Vitamin E, the Original Natural Mint, and Lemon & Shea Butter.

Bare Minerals, Bumble & Bumble, Tocca, and Sephora Play! will be on the Sephora Black Friday sale

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room first. If at this point you aren’t wondering if Sephora is playing some massive joke on all of us with these Sephora Play boxes being on the list I don’t know who you are. But seriously, it is yet again another one, and it was on the sale rack just last week.

The Bare Minerals and Bumble & Bumble set are both pretty decent deals. I don’t know how excited people will be about these, but maybe the value will be enough to sell them out. The Tocca set while not as good of a deal as a lot of the others, it is still better than the previous perfume we looked at.

Nest, Sephora Play!, Sephora Collection, and Olehenriksen on the Sephora Black Friday sale

The only thing at this point I have to say about Sephora Play at this point is, Sephora I am giving you serious side eye.

The rest of the sets all look like good values. I am at least considering buying the Olehenrikson set and the one from Sephora Collection. The Nest set looks beautiful if you are into scented products for your home. If anyone knows what the scent is based on the box, let us know down in the comments.

Sephora Collection, Lancer,Buxom, and Origins will all be on the Black Friday sale at Sephora.

I have to be honest, I have never heard of this brand Lancer. I don’t know if this is a brand I have overlooked or if this is one of the many brand Sephora has recently added. But either way the set from Lancer along with the one from Buxom are pretty great deals. I would think the Buxom set will be pretty popular, but I don’t know anything about the other brand so I can’t even speculate.

The products from Sephora Collection and Origins are okay. Origins is another one of those brands that I think of as having a cult following, so maybe that set will potentially sell out. But some of the love for the brand has seemed to die down over the last year, so maybe not.

Clean. Sephora Play, Tarte, and Lancome

Now here we have a perfume set from Clean that is both a good deal and I think has potential to be a popular item. It gives people options, and if you know a perfume lover on your list this would make a great gift.

For the rest of the items, there isn’t much left to say. You know what I think about the Sephora Play. The Tarte set we have seen before and it not that great of deal anyway. And Lancôme, it’s an okay deal but does anyone really want mascara for Christmas?

,Sephora Play on black friday sale

Maybe Sephora is Punking us.

Well after looking everything over I know what is going in my cart for the Black Friday sale. What will you be picking up? Tell me in the comments below what you think about all the Sephora Play items showing up on the sale. Is it a good move or bad move?

Make sure to check back on Thursday for my regular Black Friday post.

Hidden Gems Of Amazon – Daily Ritual Plus Size Jersey Short-Sleeve Scoop Neck T-Shirt Dress

Amazon Hidden Gems

Amazon Hidden Gems

Today we are looking at a Hidden Gem of Amazon. It’s been way too long since I have posted one of these, the last one I did was last fall looking at the Stripes and Floral Print 3/4 Length Sleeve Tee. But I found this dress recently and I thought it would make a great staple piece to anyone’s wardrobe. It can easily be worn during any season with the right pieces to add to it. We are looking at the Daily Ritual Plus Size Jersey Short-Sleeve Scoop Neck T-Shirt Dress.

I ordered this dress a little over a month ago, and it was still plenty warm here at the time. But then a week after I got it we had a massive drop in temperature. I kept holding off on doing this post thinking I would do it in the spring, but then I thought this is actually something that I would wear in every season. I just would wear it very different in each of the seasons. So I thought I would do something different this time. In addition to talking about the fit and quality of the dress I will also be sharing how I would wear it and link to some items that I would pair it with.

For sizing reference, I typically wear a size 20W or 2X at most plus size stores like Lane Bryant and Torrid. My measurements are Bust: 49″ Waist: 43″ Hips: 54″ And I wear a 40DDD bra.Daily Rituals Jersey Dress available on Amazon

Back of the Daily Rituals jersey dress

This dress sells for $18.00, and I am wearing it in a size 3X. It is available in sizes 1X to 7X. There are five color options, the color I have is called Cypress Green. I personally consider it to be olive-green or army green, whichever you want to call it. The other color options are black, navy, deep red and light heather grey.

The fabric is a jersey t-shirt fabric, but not the super thing kind. It is thick enough you are not going to see through it. The weight is wearable on its own anytime from late spring to early fall. And between the fabric thickness and the seeming, it does feel like a nice quality. The fit is perfect, and I thought the size chart was accurate.

This is an Amazon owned brand, so if anything is wrong it should be easily returnable. And of course it is available with free prime shipping. This particular Amazon clothing brand focuses on simple and chic basics. Things that are staples in most wardrobes in classic colors.

So I wanted to give you some ideas on how I would style this dress for each season. I am going to go one season at a time. And I tried to stay as much as possible to items you can buy on Amazon, but that wasn’t possible for everything.

Let’s start with summer because I feel that is this is the time of year most people would be interested in this dress, and I would go mostly simple with the accessories for it.

Fergalicious Women's Zaille Gladiator Sandal available on Amazon

This would look fantastic paired with some tan gladiator sandals like these Fergalicious Women’s Zaille Gladiator Sandal.

Kate Spade New York Women's Gold Standard Pendant Necklace

For accessories I think this dress is calling for some gold tone jewelry. I would go with a long chain pendant necklace like this Kate Spade New York Women’s Gold Standard Pendant Necklace.

Kate Spade New York Women's Gold Standard Statement Studs

And I would add some matching earrings for good measure. In the case of what I have shared it would be these Kate Spade New York Women’s Gold Standard Statement Studs.

Moving into the fall I can see introducing some richer tones to warm your look up. The temperature can vary a lot in the fall depending on how early or late it is in the season, and of course where you live. So while I am not linking them here, I would also suggest you could easily add some tights to this look to add some more warmth.

J. Adams Jones Combat Bootie

My fall shoe of choice to pair with dress is this J. Adams Jones Combat Bootie. I actually own these boots, you may recently seen them in my Instagram feed. They are perfect for fall.

Simply Be Suedette Biker Jacket

Don’t forget your jacket in the fall. This Suedette Biker Jacket from Simply Be will no doubt look stunning with this dress, and quite a few other outfits for that matter.

Ted and Jack - Fall Foliage Pattern Silk Feel Scarf

If you are always chilly or just the type that never feels an outfit is complete without accessories, then you may want to add a scarf to your fall look. I really like this Ted and Jack Fall Foliage Pattern Silk Feel Scarf for this particular look.

Now if you are like me, in the winter I am always freezing. There is nothing I can do to get warm enough, and I like to get cozy warm clothing as much as possible. So I wanted to share a way to really make this the most warm and toasty as possible.

Torrid Faux Leather Leggings

To make this dress wearable in the winter I would start by adding some leggings. I really like the idea of these Torrid Faux Leather Leggings for a winter look with this dress.

G by GUESS Womens Allio Boot

My shoe of choice for this winter look would be these G by GUESS Allio Boots. The look so cozy.

Simply Be Fur Gilet

To keep you extra warm and toasty I would try this Fur Gilet from Simply Be. I’m pretty sure this is just an open front vest.

La Carrie Faux Fur Headband with Stretch Women’s Winter Earwarmer

And finally I would top off my winter look with this La Carrie Faux Fur Headband with Stretch. I don’t do well with a lot of hats, but I love this sort of headband for the winter and it really does keep you warm.

And finally when it warms back up for spring, I think a fun monotone look would be a lot of fun.

SeaVees Women's Monterey Sneaker Varsity

For spring, the shoes I think would be perfect are these SeaVees Women’s Monterey Varsity Sneaker in Burnt Olive. The color is almost a perfect match.

Indo Batik headband

For my hair, this Indo Batik headband from Silly Yogi seems perfect.

Plus Size Oversized Sweaters Duster

And finally, to finish this look off, and to keep the spring chill away, I would add this Oversized Sweaters Duster.

So tell me in the comments what you think. Do you like my outfit suggestions? How would you wear this dress?

Ten Gift Ideas For Scorpios

Happy Brthday Scorpios

If you are seeing this on the day that it is published then today is my birthday. And I wanted to honor my fellow Scorpios. I thought why not do that by sharing a list of great gift ideas for the Scorpio in your life, or something you as a Scorpio might like to treat yourself to.

Happy Brthday Scorpios

I personally am not into horoscopes, but have always loved my astrological sign and found the description accurate for me. So don’t be surprised if there are quite a few items that actually feature the Scorpio astrological symbol.

Morphing Mugs Birthday Zodiac Sign (Scorpio)

Morphing Mugs Birthday Scorpio Zodiac Sign

I have a pretty impressive mug collection and I think this would make the perfect birthday mug for any Scorpio. And of course these are available in other signs, there are links on the product page to each individual sign.

Scorpio Astrology Tea- Sencha Green

Scorpio Astrology Tea- Sencha Green

If your going to have a mug, you need something to put in it right? I personally love tea, and I am sure a fair amount of you do as well. Now the Scorpio one that I am linking to is showing as temporarily out of stock, but you can sign up for notifications when it comes back in stock. And of course you can get teas for all of the other signs.

My Zodiac Box Subscription

My Zodiac Box Subscription

Maybe you want to get a gift for someone who loves their zodiac, but you don’t know what to get them. Why not try out a subscription box. Yep, there is a subscription box for even that. You just fill out a small form with which zodiac sign you want the box for and a couple of other questions and you are good to go. If you are not sure about this one, I will have a review of this product coming in the relatively close future.

Swarovski Crystal Necklace Topaz Pendant Necklace November Jewelry

Swarovski Crystal Topaz Pendant Necklace

So Scorpios don’t have a birthstone, that is a birth month thing. However, the majority of Scorpios are November babies. And back in the day Golden Topaz was the birthstone of November. But I thought this antique looking pendant necklace would be a big hit, even if it’s not your birthstone, with most Scorpios. And because its handmade you can customize the length of the chain to what is a comfortable fit for you.

Silver Scorpio Necklace from Torrid

Silver Scorpio Necklace

If you like the idea of a necklace but you are more into delicate small sizes jewelry, this dainty piece from Torrid might be more your style. You can wear it alone or layer it up with another piece of jewelry to really personalize your style.

Custom Water Bottle at WalGreens

Custom Water Bottle

This one might seem an odd choice for this list to some of you, but I personally think it works on many levels. Scorpios are a water sign, and with the customization feature you could put a picture of your astrological sign, a picture of someone you love, or just something your passionate about. And this is really a gift that could work for anyone.

Scorpio Soap, Zodiac Signs, Zodiac Soap

Scorpio Soap, Zodiac Signs, Zodiac Soap

Personally, I always think soap makes a good gift. And these soaps have a lot of personality, plus they can be customized. You pick the color and the scent. Since they are customizable, I am sure that you could also ask for fragrance free. This seller also has the other zodiac signs.

Xtremegems Scorpio - Labradorite 925 Sterling Silver Ring Jewelry Size 8

Xtremegems Scorpio – Labradorite 925 Sterling Silver Ring Jewelry Size 8

There are tons of Scorpio themed rings on the market in all sorts of styles. From simple to bold, but this might be one of the most unique. If your buying for someone who really likes to make a statement with their jewelry this might be a winner.

Scorpio Zodiac Journal

If the Scorpio in your life is more of the creative type, then perhaps a journal might be more to their tastes.

Product Review – Burt’s Bees More Moisture Baobab Shampoo And Conditioner

Burts Bees Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner

This is the fourth in a series of Shampoo and Conditioner reviews. I will be reviewing a Burt’s Bees shampoo and conditioner. Don’t forget to check out my last review on the Free & Clear Shampoo And Conditioner.

My Hair And Scalp Type

(notice this section will be in every shampoo and conditioner review for reference. This is for convenience so you do not have to look back at earlier posts)

My hair is very thick and coarse. It tends to be very dry, and can turn brittle if I wash it too often or don’t condition it enough. But my hair is reasonably healthy outside of that, as I do not use heat on it very often and I try to take care of it to the best of my ability.

My scalp goes back and forth between dry and oily depending on the time of the year and the products I have used. My biggest struggle with my scalp is from the allergic contact dermatitis caused by my allergy to Balsam of Peru. This causes a dry, scaly, itchy coverage on the scalp that looks a lot like dandruff. I have never been able to get it fully cleared up on my scalp. At its worst, when I have a reaction to something, it also burns and can blister.

The Product

Burts Bees More Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner

This is the Burt’s Bees More Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner with Baobab. I purchased mine at Meijer’s, but they don’t seem to currently have a website to link to. So I have linked to Amazon. Of course it is also available on Burt’s Bees website and some of the places Burt’s Bees products are sold. Each bottle is 10 fluid ounces, and it sells for anywhere from $7 to $8 depending on where you buy it at.

There were a lot of reason I wanted to give this a try. Most of all I had not seen this products before and I really wanted to give some product out of the more natural category a try. There are some things on the label that really intrigued me, which will be a big part of the discussion in several ways.

How It Performed

Burt's Bees More Moisture Shampoo

Moisturizing shampoos for me, at best, usually means not drying. I rarely find one that I actually find moisturizing. In fact there is only a few that I can think of that is actually moisturizing, and most of those are more oil based. This really performed well on my hair. It was moisturizing, it wasn’t oily, it left it soft and manageable. I really like what it did for my hair.

Burt's Bees More Moisture Conditioner

The conditioner performed well also. I would say it verged on almost being too moisturizing for me, but not quite. I definitely don’t need to use a hair mask with this one. And just a little bit goes a long way. That is probably the first hair product I have felt that way about, but its true.

Overall I would say that I am very happy with the way this shampoo and conditioner performed for my hair. And I think most people who have very thick, course, and dry hair will like it. I would not recommend this for anyone who has fine, thin hair or anyone who struggles with their hair being limp or oily.

The Allergy Affect

Before I say anything else here, let me say that I have not had a reaction to this product. It hasn’t improved my scalp from previous reactions, but it has not caused a reaction either. This is a very distinct difference that perhaps only other with contact dermatitis will understand. For the rest of what I want to say, there is a bit of a story involved.

When I am trying to decide whether to give a product a try there are always a few things I do to make that decision whether I think it will cause a reaction or not. Two of the top things are reading the ingredient list and smelling the product. I have probably mentioned this many times over the years.

I smelled the product and no alarms went off. So I read through the ingredient list, and again no alarms went off. But I did notice something interesting I had not seen on any of the other products I have tried. In the ingredient list it has fragrance, and right by it is a little asterisks mark. When you look at the bottom to see what the asterisks is about, it says natural fragrance. When I smelled the product it had that very natural kind of smell like many Korean products do. This had me intrigued, so I visited their website for more information.

Looking at their product page didn’t really give me any more information than the bottle did, so I decided to look around the rest of their website. After much searching I found no information that directly answered my question, but I did find on their contact page a link that says it is to email them about product and ingredient inquiries. So of course I sent them and email.

I messaged them and let them know that I am a blogger and that I was working on a review of their product and why fragrance information was important. I of course let them know what product I was reviewing, and I asked for information about their fragrance mix used. The initial reply I received was an automated response saying they needed more time to research my question. But when I got the actual response from a person, this is where my problem started.

The first response I got back from Burt’s Bees was odd, to say the least. All it said was, ‘Thank you for your patience. So we can help, would you mind providing the UPC for the product in question? We look forward to hearing from you.”. Now remember my question was a general question about fragrance for the anyone, not one specific fragrance, and definitely not about me having a reaction to the product I purchased. The response I got was more what you expect when you have told the company you had a reaction to the product.

So I responded  back to them, not with an answer to their question, but I just sent back a message saying I was a little confused why they needed that to answer my question. Did they perhaps misunderstand what I was asking. I mean, this should be a simple answer from them. They are not creating a different fragrance for each bottle of moisture shampoo they make.

I did get another response back from them, and I felt just as frustrated by this one as the last. Their response read, “Thank you for getting back to us. The majority of fragrances in Burt’s Bees products are natural, composed of proprietary blends of essential oils and natural extracts. We ask that you please consult with your doctor before using our products. If you happen to have an allergy to a specific ingredient, please provide the name so that we can let you know if it is in the product.”. Again, I didn’t have a reaction and wasn’t asking for that reason. And even if I had, with a allergy to something like Balsam of Peru, it’s not as simple as just saying I am allergic to Balsam of Peru.

First of all most doctors and health professionals don’t even know what that is, I don’t expect someone at a beauty company to know. You can literally react to hundreds of things that are chemical twins to Balsam of Peru. And people with my allergy don’t all react to the same things. So admittedly I was very frustrated when I sent my last response back to them. I sent back a simple question. “Did you even read my initial email?” I never received another response from them.

Final Thoughts

I have really mixed feelings about this, and a lot of it has to do with the email exchange. On the one had I think the product was excellent, but I have said many times how important customer service is to me. And the email issue isn’t just that they didn’t want to tell me what their fragrance is, but that they indicate that you can ask and then rather than directly saying in the beginning that they can’t share that sort of information. (I am guessing that is what all the dancing around the subject is about. I would hate to think they are really so incompetent that they can’t read an email and comprehend it.)

So I am at that point where does the product outweigh the behavior of the company and my frustration with them. But I suppose only time will tell with that. I am still testing out shampoos and conditioners. Maybe I will find something I like better.

Tell me in the comments if you have tried this shampoo and conditioner. I would especially love to hear from any of you with contact and fragrance allergies. And don’t forget to let me know if there is a specific shampoo and conditioner you want me to put on the list to try out.

Beauty Advent Calendars You Can Actually Purchase In The US

In my recent post about Whats Happening In November and December I mentioned that I would be opening my NARS Advent Calendar in December and Sharing it on Instagram. I also said if anyone wanted to know where you could actually purchase those coveted beauty advent calendars in the US, to let me know and I would do a post. So a few of you reached out in different places, and here we are.

This is actually the first year I managed to get my hands on a beauty advent calendar, though I had been wanting one for several years. Beauty Advent calendars are a big thing in the UK and other European countries, and it seems like there are lots of brands that put them out there. But it has been a struggle to find ones here in the US, especially of brands that I can actually use. This year has seen an increase in the advent calendars available to purchase in the US, and I couldn’t be more excited about it.

If you are not familiar with the concept of an Advent calendar, they are designed usually to count down from the beginning of December to Christmas day. However there are calendars with all different time lengths involved. They are usually designed in a way that the receiver opens a little flap each day they are counting down, and inside there is a treat of some sort. We of course are specifically looking at beauty Advent calendars here, but they do come in all sorts of themes from candy to children’s toys. And you can even purchase empty advent calendars to fill with your own treasures if you are giving it as a gift. I will try to keep the focus of this post on Advent Calendars that you can actually still purchase.

YesStyle Beauty Box - "A KRistmas Fairytale" Beauty Advent Calendar 2018

YesStyle Beauty Box – “A KRistmas Fairytale” Beauty Advent Calendar 2018

This is a 24 day advent calendar that sells for $129.90, but the retail value is over $300. All items are Korean products and full size. It contains a good mix of makeup, skin care, and beauty tools.

If you try to purchase this one and it is showing out of stock, do not worry. It is my understanding is this item is going to restock every Monday until all product is exhausted. So you have a good shot at getting this. But remember this is coming from China, so if you want it to arrive by the beginning of December don’t delay.

NARS Uncensored Advent Calendar

NARS Uncensored Advent Calendar

This is a 24 day advent calendar that sells for $150.00. It contains 7 full size items, 3 medium-sized items, and 14 mini size items. They don’t give a value for the set. And it includes so many mini items I can’t estimate a value. But I can tell you the full sizes alone retail for $202.00.

Products inside are a mixture of various types of makeup and a couple of beauty tools. It even includes one of the spiked items from the Christmas collection this year. (This is the same one I got. They were about to sell out when I bought mine, but it appears they have restocked this item.)

NYX Cosmetics actually has two advent calendars out this year. The best I can tell one of them is exclusively available on NYX’s website, and the other is available on NYX’s website as well as Ulta’s and inside Ulta’s stores.

NYX Lippie Countdown Advent Calendar

NYX Lippie Countdown Advent Calendar

This is a 24 day advent calendar that sells for $65.00. It currently seems to be selling exclusively on NYX’s website, however it may have previously been offered at ULTA.

As the name indicates, this particular advent calendar focuses on NYX lip products. While other brands give a list of what is included in their advent calendars, the only thing NYX has told us is that it includes a mix of their best-selling lip products in bold colors.

NYX Sugar Trip 24 Days of Beauty Advent Calendar

NYX Sugar Trip 24 Days of Beauty Advent Calendar

This is a 24 day advent calendar that sells for $55.00. If you are interested in a NYX advent calendar, but want more variety than just lip products you may be interested in this one.

It contains 10 of their powder products (A combination of eyeshadow, blush, and highlight.) and 14 lip products. According to NYX’s website, while the formulas are fan favorites all 24 items are supposed to be in all new fun shades. This is available currently on NYX’s website as well as at Ulta in store and online.

Charlotte Tilbury BEAUTY ADVENT CALENDAR

Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte’s Beauty Universe Beauty Advent Calendar

This is a 12 day Advent calendar that sells for $200.00, but the retail value is $268.00. This was sold at a few beauty retailers that carries Charlotte Tilbury products, but from what I can tell it is currently only available on the Charlotte Tilbury website.

It contains a mix from what Charlotte Tilbury considers to be their must have items. It will have both makeup  and skin care. There are four full size items, two minis, and six travel sizes. If you are looking for a big luxury brand advent calendar, this is it. It is also a great way to dive into trying a bunch of the Charlotte Tilbury products at once.

Macy’s has three Advent calendars currently available. Two are exclusives to Macy’s, and one is not. Macy’s does offer free shipping on all of their beauty products.

Clarins Festive Surprises 12-Day Advent Calendar Set

Clarins Festive Surprises 12-Day Advent Calendar Set

This is a 12 day Advent calendar that sells for $60.00. This is available on Macy’s, Ulta and Clarins’ website. Clarins website calls this the Holiday Rituals Set, and they also offer a similar set but larger on there. They say on Clarins website this set is valued at over $152.00.

This set comes in a reusable keepsake jewelry box. It contains a mixture of makeup, skin care, and body care items. Though the focus is definitely on skin care. There are ten travel items, one full size item, and one item that does not say if it is full size or travel.

Macy's Beauty Collection 12-Day All About Lips Advent Calendar

Macy’s Beauty Collection 12-Day All About Lips Advent Calendar

This is a 12 day Advent Calendar that sells for $30.00. This one is not just exclusive to Macy’s, it is Macy’s in store brand. If you didn’t know, they have had an in store beauty brand for a while now.

As the name suggest, this is all lip products in the collection. The description says it is all glosses, but it is actually 11 glosses and 1 liquid lipstick. These lip products come in a mixture of mattes, metalics, shines, and shimmers.

Macy's Beauty Collection 25-Pc. Advent Calendar Set

Macy’s Beauty Collection 25-Pc. Advent Calendar Set

This is a 25 day Advent calendar that sells for $150.00, but the retail value is $300.00. This was created for Macy’s. It can be bought on Macy’s website, but I am not sure if it is available in store or not.

It is filled with a mixture of skin care and makeup from brands carried at Macy’s. All items are from popular brands, a good amount are from high-end brands. The sizes, as far as ounces are given, but you would have to look each individual item up to find out if it is full size, travel, or mini. Based on what I know of all of the brands and their pricing, I think it’s a safe bet that at least half of these are going to be either travel size or minis.

Glossybox 'All I Want' Advent Calendar

Glossybox ‘All I Want’ Advent Calendar

This is a 25 day Advent calendar that sells for $99.00, and it has a retail value of over $325.00. You can only purchase this from Glossybox, and I believe you must be a Glossybox subscriber to purchase this one. If you want to sign up for a Glossybox subscription, use this link to save 20% off your first box. And you can use the code GBSALE to save $10 on the Advent calendar when you purchase a subscription.

This box contains a mix of makeup, skin care, hair care, and beauty tools. Brands will most likely be indie brands. If you saw the preview of the UK version of the box, the US box may disappoint you if that was what you were expecting. However if you are going in as a total surprise, you should then be pretty happy.

lookfantastic Advent Calendar

lookfantastic Advent Calendar

This is a 25 day Advent calendar that sells for $115.00. There isn’t really any information on the retail price or what brands you will be getting, so I can’t estimate the value without going to look for unboxings. The one thing they do tell you about this box is that it includes a mix of skin care, tanning, hair care, cosmetics, branded tools, and exclusive products.

There are quite a few brands selling their Advent calendars on Amazon as well. You have to be careful though, as not all of the Advent calendars being sold on Amazon are being sold by the brand. Many are either from previous years or being sold at a much higher price by individuals trying to make a profit on unsuspecting individuals. I am linking to some of the ones I think everyone may be interested in that I have checked to make sure they are the right price.

The Ritual of Advent Exclusive Calendar

Rituals The Ritual of Advent Calendar 2D Set

This is a 24 day Advent calendar that sells for $89.00, but the retail value is $179.00. On both Amazon and Rituals website. Free shipping is available on both websites for this product.

They don’t really provide a list of what is included in this Advent calendar. There is a picture of the products that are included, but I am not familiar enough with the products to know what all of them are, just which collections they are. I know this set will be heavy on the bath and body care products and there are four candles included. But I suspect that if you are a Rituals fan, you are probably looking for that anyway.

L'Occitane Holiday 2018 Luxury Advent Calendar

L’Occitane Holiday 2018 Signature Advent Calendar

This is a 24 day Advent calendar that sells for $59.00, but the retail value is $105.00. This is available at Amazon and L’Occitane’s website. As an added bonus the brand’s website says ‘This holiday season, join L’OCCITANE in helping UNICEF improve the lives of 1.7 million children around the world. For each purchase of the Signature Advent Calendar, L’OCCITANE will help UNICEF provide Vitamin A supplement to children in the fight against preventable childhood blindness.

This advent calendar contains a mix of bath and body care, hair care, skin care, and perfumes. Just a word of warning for those of you not familiar with this brand, if you are fragrance or essential oil sensitive, this will not be the right advent calendar for you. This brand is very heavily fragranced.

L'Occitane Holiday 2018 Luxury Advent Calendar

L’Occitane Holiday 2018 Luxury Advent Calendar

Yes L’Occitane has two Advent calendars, this is their Luxury one. It is a 24 day Advent calendar that sells for $124.00, but the retail value is $139.50. This is also available on both Amazon and the brand’s website.

Like the Signature Advent Calendar, this Luxury Advent Calendar also contains a mixture of  bath and body care, hair care, skin care, and perfumes. Obviously this box is more expensive both in price and retail value, but you get your best deal on the other one.

Ulta 12 Days of Beauty

Ulta 12 Days of Beauty

This is a 12 day Advent Calendar that sells for $18.00, but it has a retail value of $74.00. This is available exclusively through Ulta.

This contains all makeup. It is a mix of various makeup products from lipstick to highlight. You can almost do a full face of makeup with the contents.

Sephora Wish Upon a Star Advent Calendar

Sephora Wish Upon a Star Advent Calendar

This is a 12 day Advent Calendar that sells for $36.00, but its retail value is $85.00. It is available exclusively at Sephora.

This Advent calendar contains mainly beauty tools, though there are a couple of items that will fit more of the role of cosmetics.

There are also several Advent calendars out there that do fit into the beauty category, but are probably not what the majority of you are looking for in a beauty advent calendar. However, some of you may be interested so here is a short list of some Advent calendars that contain things like nail polish and perfume.

The Sheet Masks I Used This Month October 2018

Sheet masks used in October 218

After my big push to get back on a good skin care routine in August, I am now on a more stable and manageable routine. In August I used a sheet mask every day and blogged about it. But now I am doing something close to every other day, but I know there will be some times when that doesn’t happen. My goal is to use between 12 to 15 masks a month, but I want to be flexible with that.

If you want to find out what I used in August, there were four separate post. Check out week one, week two, week three, and week four(really more than a week).

This post is going to be a little different from most of sheet mask posts, and it will most likely be like this from now on for these recap posts. I am posting only pictures of the packaging here with links to where you can purchase them and price. If you want to see each one being worn by me and my commentary on the masks, you can find that on my Instagram and Facebook page.

We will be looking at three masks at a time. Lets get started.

sheet masks from SOOAE, Burt's Bees, and Skin79

1. Freeset Donkey Milk Skin Gel Mask Pack Healing (it says Freeset on the link which I think is the parent company, but this is from SOO AE). On Amazon you get 10 of these for $30.00 with free prime shipping. You can also occasionally get these on Hautelook or in various subscription boxes.

2. Burt’s Bees Purifying Sheet Mask With Kiwi Extract. I bought mine in store at Meijer for $2.99 each. You can also purchase these on Burt’s Bees website and other stores that carry Burt’s Bees products. They are also available on Amazon’s website as an add on item.

3. SKIN79 Rice Bubble Cleansing Mask. On Amazon you can get 5 for $19.99. You can also occasionally get these on Hautelook and YesStyle, but neither place consistently has them.

4. Innisfree Strawberry It’s Real Squeeze Mask. On Amazon you can get a 10 pack for just $7.50. You can also find this one on Beauteque and YesStyle, but on YesStyle it is only available in a multi-pack.

5. Elizavecca 24K Gold Water Dual Snail Mask Pack. On YesStyle you can get a 10 pack for $17.90. You can also find this mask on Amazon.

6. A mask from Hello Skin. The rest of the packaging, outside of the brand name is in Korean. I tried to track this down, but no luck, so I can’t link to it. If anyone recognizes it could you leave the name in the comments.

7. Holika Holika Green Tea Real Hydrogel Mask. Find this one on YesStyle for $5.90 for a single mask. There are a couple of other versions available when in stock.  I have not seen this mask anywhere else that I shop.

8. Skinfood Black Bean Beauty In Food Mask – On Amazon you can fins a 10 pack for  masks with free prime shipping.

9. 7 Days Natural Pomegranate Sheet Mask. On Amazon you can get a 7 pack with a package of facial wipes for $15.19 and free prime shipping. You also have the option of getting it in a multipack with all the other varieties.

10. Esfolio Pure Skin Snail Essence Sheet Mask. On YesStyle you can get a 1 pack for $12.90. This mask tends to pop up on various sites at different times, but I do not currently see it available at any of the other places I buy masks.

11. A hydrogel mask from Mediental. This is another mask that is completely in Korean, so I can’t tell you much beyond the brand name. I do know that it is 6 free, I can recognize the symbols for that. If you have chemical sensitivities then these are usually a good place to start looking. I couldn’t find this available in any of my usual places to buy masks.

12. NOHJ: Calming Intracell Sleeping Mask. On Beauteque purchase this mask for $3.25 each. You can also find this mask on YesStyle, but it is more expensive for individual ones on there. But you can by 10 packs that are about the same price.

And that is all of the sheet masks I used this month. Tell me in the comments what sheet masks you used. Do you have a favorite sheet mask or favorite place to shop for sheet masks?
If you are looking to try some new masks, Sally Beauty has a special going on right now. Shop 5 for $5 Single Use Face Masks. This sale is from 11/1 to 11/9 and does not require a coupon. I know I will be picking some up to try.
