An Overview Of Plus Size Outfits I Wore In 2015

2015 plus size fashion looks

As I mentioned a couple of posts ago, I am trying to implement a plan that makes it easier for me to post on a more regular schedule thus keeping the blog active. I have been working a lot on the back end portion of that, but I am still trying to put out some posts each week.

But as I was thinking about what I wanted to post I realized that last year I had a lot of pictures laying around of various outfits I didn’t get to blog about. I really wanted to share them. And while a lot of things may no longer be available, some things still are. And even if they are not, someone may find inspiration in the outfits somehow.

I am not going to go into a lot of details on this post. But I will let you know where each piece came from, and anything that is still available I will make sure to link to the item. And please keep in mind, some of these items can still be found in resale places like eBay and the like.

Here is the collage of looks from this past year that I missed talking about. I am going to take these one at a time below and list where each item came from.

My look from Torrid and Easy Spirit

The top left and center picture are obviously the same look except I have on a jacket in this picture, so I am only using this one to cover everything.

The Jacket: This is from Torrid, it is their Military Style Jacket. They no longer have this exact one, but they have one that is very similar called their Fitted Military Jacket.

The Top: Also from Torrid, but nothing similar offered at the moment. Though they do occasionally bring this style back and I have seen similar at other stores.

The Leggings: Yet again from Torrid and no longer available. But Torrid does have a somewhat similar pair available called Plaid Skull Leggings.

The Shoes: These are the Gessica Ballet Flats from Easy Spirit. They are so comfortable, and they are offered from N to WW in width.

The Cardigan: Sold out in this bright cherry red color, but you can still get the Lace Inset Cardigan in Burgandy or the Lace Inset Cardigan in Gray.

The Top: Also from Torrid. While it was called something different when I got it, you can still get this top. It is now called the Cinch Lace Babydoll Top. Torrid is constantly rereleasing this top in various colors with new names. It is very comfortable and a pretty universally flattering shape. I have this top in at least three colors.

The Pants: Surprise, these are from Torrid. They are the Noir Collection All-Nighter Pant – Slim Fix Pixie Skinny. If you haven’t tried these before you really should. They are like if a pair of Yoga pants and pair of dress pants and pair of spanx had a threesome, and that somehow miraculously produced a child.

The Purse: Is from Steve Madden but is unfortunately no longer available.

The Shoes: They are Cherry Patent Leather Mary Janes from a brand called Madison Comfort. I bought mine on Zulily. I did a quick search and couldn’t fin a website for the company or anywhere else to find them other than used. This brand sells on Zulily pretty frequently, and they are really comfy and offer wide widths. If you are not already a member of Zulily, it cost nothing to sign up, they are just a flash sale sight. In my opinion one of the best especially for plus sizes. Plus sizes are always included every day. You can sign up here.

The Necklace: Is Betsey Johnson, however it has long been sold out.

The Top and Shorts: Both of these items came from CATO’s. And while they are both sold out, they do have a somewhat similar pair of shorts in a different color. You can find those here.

The Shoe: If you have read any of my previous posts where I wore flip flops, you should know what brand these are by now. There are some rare exceptions to this, but for the most part my flip flops are almost always Flojos. They don’t seem to be selling this purple color anymore, which makes me sad. But you can still get this same style in other colors. They are the Cami Flat Sandal from Flojos .

2015-06-25 17.13.03

Snapped this picture when I first got it in, and ended up wearing it to two cons this past summer.

It is not available at this time, however it has been brought back once already since the original release. Also you can check Torrid, Hot Topic, and Her Universe for other plus size Doctor Who themed clothing.

2015-11-14 14.10.31The Duster: From Torrid it is their Lace Front Button Tunic.

The Top: I got this corset style top, which is the black and red part you see peeking out, at the Avenue last year. They don’t seem to have anything similar this year. But if you wanted a similar look Torrid has this Lace Babydoll Bustier Top .

The Pants: I am wearing those same Noir Collection All-Nighter Pants that I had on with the red top.

The Boots: Again I know you can’t see them, but I have on another pair of something I bought on Zulily. They have great deals on wide calf boots (like seriously you can find some under $30). They even occasionally have double wide calf boots. The ones I have are from the Journey Collection. Check above for the link to sign up.

As always look forward to hearing your feedback and questions.

Updates And Looking For Feedback

I need your feedback

As I said in my last post I wanted to work on updating some things with the blog, and that is what I have been doing.

I have managed to get the follow me buttons back up, but I had to go with a different support company for it. You should now be seeing those buttons floating on the bottom left of every page, and when you visit an article page for longer than 80 second, you should have a one time pop up asking you to follow me.

You might also notice that there is now an button for Instagram. That is right, I finally gave in and joined Instagram. I couldn’t help it, I did it for the Instagrannies. I saw a few articles on them lately and was drawn in. Who wouldn’t love a fashionista that looked like their granny? Seriously, though. Instagram will be mainly a way for you guys to see quick glimpses into my life, and my cats. Other than that, I don’t have a specific plan for Instagram, just random pictures that I take of my cats, places I travel, friends, OOTD, etc…

I will be doing a few post about this soon, but you will notice on the front page for now there is a button near the bottom that says Influenster Blogger. Essentially Influenster is a website like Trip Advisor, but for products. And companies work with Influenster to send out things for people to try, in what Influnster calls their VoxBox. I will explain more in a future article about it, but anyone can sign up. You do not have to have a blog or YouTube channel, though they do give you credit for it if you do. You only have to be active on social media to be chosen.

I did get a new email account up and running. I am hoping to get a PO box soon. This way hopefully communication will be able to go a little smoother.

In the next few days I will be adding a few new pages to the layout. I am also considering starting a YouTube channel. If I did, I would be mainly doing things like unboxings and occasional hauls and look books. Now this is where you guys come in.

I need your feedback

I really want to hear from you all. While this is technically my blog, I want it to be about all of us, and I want it to be enjoyable for you. Please let me know what you would like to see. Are you interested in a YouTube Channel? It would be a big step outside my comfort zone, but I am all for personal growth. What do I need to change?

While I Was Away This Happened……

So this is probably one of many short posts for the blog. I wanted to catch you guys up on something else that happened while I was away. It was a big decision for me, and probably seems really small to most people. But I changed my hair again. I had just went to having the long hair with purple tips back in the summer, and then life happened.

As I mentioned in my last post my husband lost his job, and that was around the time I was going to go get my hair touched up. I put it off for a couple of weeks hoping my husband would find work quickly, but it ended up taking a couple of months. Which don’t get me wrong that is not bad compared to what some people I know have went through in a job search, and I get that. But if you have ever dyed your hair, especially with bold colors, things can start looking funky if you wait too long.

So after much thought and consideration I decided to go with just having my hair all black and going short. It had been about five to six years since I had short hair, well medium hair. Anyway, if you follow me on Pinterest you know that I pin on there a lot. (As a side note, I am sorry for anyone trying to find my social media. My buttons seemed to disappear and I am working on getting them back) So I was looking around for a more retro hairstyle to try and I came across this picture of Brigitte Bardot.

Brigitte Bardot

I really loved the way this looked, and I thought it would be quite easy to style when I on occasion do vintage style hairdos. So I went and got my hair chopped down.

And here it is right after the first day, before I decided how I really wanted to wear it. But I did have on a one of the 70’s style dresses from Simply Be.

As I have worn it a bit now, it has naturally just started to part on the right, and I like it that way.

I want to hear from all of you. What is your favorite hairstyle that you have had? What are you rocking now?

Yes, I Am Still Here. A Quick Catch Up Post

Out of Spoons

I know its been a hot minute since I have done a post, and there has been minimal posting on Facebook and Twitter the last couple of months. I really am sorry to have fallen off the face of the earth like that, but I honestly didn’t have enough spoons to go around.

If you aren’t sure what I am talking about with spoons, I have mentioned in previous posts I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. Spoons is a reference to The Spoon Theory by Christine Miserandino, which can be found on her blog But You Don’t Look Sick. I highly recommend you read it if you or someone you care about has a chronic pain condition or chronic illness.

So in addition to just dealing with my normal illness and life, there has been a lot going on. My husband lost his job, then job hunted, and found a new job that he has since started. And since he is the main bread winner in our house, that right there says stress. But we also hit our usual high of, somehow the majority of people we know have birthdays in November and December. We also have been in the process of, not exactly remodeling, but rearranging our house for the better. Still doing a bit of that. And this year was our turn to host the friends Christmas party, which I loved doing, but we had to really get things in gear with rearranging certain rooms before the party. All of this on top of starting a charity with one my besties. You can check it out at Dignity Purses.

And since Christmas I feel I have been either recouping or just totally lacking motivation. I have been so without energy that I actually missed my major selling season for both of my stores, so I had no income to contribute to our household. But during my down time I have been doing a lot of thinking and planning. I realize some things I needed and wanted. Before Christmas I actually had considered closing down the blog. I love doing things with the blog, but I felt I wasn’t giving it the time and attention it deserves to justify the money I spend to keep it running. But in December I had been contacted by a couple of people in private messages that let me know that at least in some small way I had helped them. And that has been really all I have ever wanted from this blog since I started it. I always thought that if I could help even just one person that was enough for me.

So after a lot of thought and consideration I decided I will be keeping the blog open at least for a while, but I will be making some small changes. Some that will just help me to post more often and some that will hopefully help me contribute more financially to my household, while still maintaining my integrity. Here are some of the changes you might see over the next month or two:

  • You might see adds pop up on the site. (I promise to keep it to a minimum and to keep it relevant to things talked about on the site)
  • You will hopefully see more post more frequently, but a lot of them may be shorter in nature and a larger variety of topics may show up. And there may be a lot more product and company reviews from now on.
  • You will start seeing me promote Beauteque. With this particular company, yes with promoting them I can earn commissions (I want to be very open and honest about this), but its not about that for me. Commissions are not very much from them. They are a small company bringing K beauty to the US. I started purchasing from them and switching over to mainly K beauty about 8 to 9 months ago, and its really made a huge difference for me. I really believe in this company. I will be talking about them and products that I use extensively in the future. Until then, if you already buy from them or are interested in trying them, you can get 10% off your purchase with my coupon code KAREN.
  • You should start seeing an improvement in picture quality on the blog soon. I was lucky enough to get a nice new camera for my recent Birthday. I will be playing around with it.
  • There should be some updated ways to contact me soon. I have had a few people asking about a mailing address and email address.

I will be talking more about most of these changes soon. And don’t worry, if you came for the plus size fashion I still plan on doing that too. Until then I would love to hear any of your thoughts, comments, concerns, or ideas. Talk to me.
